What To Expect From The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep At Netflix’s Geeked Week 2023

Geeked Week, one of two Netflix’s annual promo events is currently underway having swapped places with TUDUM this year. While the former was promoting the main Witcher series, Geeked Week will have something else. Here’s what we can expect from The Witcher camp and when.

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep announcement on Friday, November 10

After years of development and many revelations, Netflix is finally ready to announce The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime film made by Studio MIR in an official capacity this Friday.

Sirens is an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story “A Little Sacrifice”, which chronologically would fit somewhere between episodes of Season 1, but was never adapted until now.

Here’s what can we expect Netflix to reveal:

  • Voice actor for Geralt of Rivia: Who is voicing Geralt in Sirens of the Deep? Due to the anime being in development for about 2-3 years now, it falls under the timeline when Henry Cavill still was attached to the series, but voice roles can easily be re-recorded by new actors, hence three options: Liam Hemsworth, Henry Cavill or perhaps Doug Cockle. This will be revealed on Friday.
  • Who else is among the voice cast: We’ve known for months that Christina Wren will voice Essi Daven and Joey Batey is certainly reprising his role as Jaskier, but who else will we hear in Sirens? There might be a surprise.
  • Who is behind making Sirens of the Deep: Obviously it’s known that Studio MIR is developing the anime, but is Nightmare of the Wolf director Kwang Il Han returning? And who among The Witcher writers is behind the script for Sirens?
  • Release window for Sirens of the Deep: During Geeked Week, Netflix will also announce the release window for Sirens. Will we have to wait a little or a lot?
  • Teaser trailer for Sirens of the Deep: Finally, this Friday we’ll get our first glimpse of the long-awaited anime in the form of a teaser trailer.

That’s all we can expect from The Witcher camp this Friday at Geeked Week. There won’t be anything related to Season 4 of the main series or The Rats prequel, despite the latter having been in post-production for months now. Those will have to wait until next year probably.

The Witcher Season 4 is in production for a 2025 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book has a planned Winter 2024/2025 release with The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime set for a late 2024 release as well.
