News have been scarce on the second season of Netflix’s hit series The Sandman since it was halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. It’s still ongoing with talks between the parties scheduled very soon, but nonetheless we’ve started getting some new casting information on Season 2.
Barry Sloane cast as Destruction in The Sandman Season 2
We’ve learned that English actor Barry Sloane has been cast in The Sandman Season 2 as Destruction.
It is a major role as Destruction is one of the new Endless we’ll see in the upcoming season along with Delirium and Destiny. As such, the role of Destruction is series regular in Season 2, so we’ll be seeing a lot of him.
Sloane is widely known as Captain John Price in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series along with other appearances in the franchise as well. For this role he won a BAFTA Games award in the category Performer in a Leading Role. His other projects include roles in Revenge, Longmire, The Bay and more.
More new Sandman cast
In other news, over the last few days other new roles have been uncovered as well, both from our end and from the fandom.
First up, Daphne Alexander (Casualty, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey) and Tafline Steen (The Athena, Babylon’s Fall) have joined Season 2 as Bromie and Xantho respectively.
Next, Sandman News reported that Charlotte Bate (Casualty) has joined The Sandman Season 2. Bate will play a character named Talley in the new season.
Finally, Esme Creed-Miles (Hanna) has most likely joined The Sandman cast in a yet-unknown role along with Adrian Lester (The Rook, Riviera). Both were seen in a Sandman cast reunion this summer.
It’s possible that one or both of them were simply guests at the party, but we can’t eliminate the possibility of them being cast. In Lester’s case, there is also a possibility of him being one of the directors in Season 2 as he has directed television episodes before.
Production for The Sandman Season 2 is currently on halt for an indefinite amount of time. Follow Redanian Intelligence for more news!
