The Witcher Season 4 May Film Sooner Than Expected

The third season of Netflix’s The Witcher still starring Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan is coming very soon with its two parts releasing in June and July respectively. Meanwhile, for the last several months work was being conducted on Season 4, which will be Liam Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt.

Now we may even have a possible timetable for the next installment of The Witcher.

Potential filming dates for The Witcher Season 4

As we reported recently, writing for The Witcher Season 4 was either done or mostly done by the beginning of May 2023 when the writers strike began in the US. Per strike rules, no writing or script tweaks are allowed for the duration of the strike. But what is allowed is casting.

As such, The Witcher‘s casting agency put out a casting call for people of restricted growth for an 8-part Netflix series codenamed ‘Road Rage‘ that is planned to be filmed from September 2023 to May 2024.

There is no direct confirmation that this is definitely The Witcher, but the clues do sound like it may be. The description of the casting call sounds exactly like Zoltan Chivay and his group when they meet Geralt‘s hansa.

The group in question comprises a loyal and fierce company of skilled warriors. Fate brings them together with a group of intrepid travellers. Fearless and unflappable, they bring a sense of levity to even the direst situations with their irreverent humour and quick wit. They are not afraid to speak their minds and their sharp tongues are matched only by their sharp blades. They are a force to be reckoned with, and anyone who underestimates them does so at their own peril.

As they are a company of skilled warriors, these roles require actors who are comfortable and capable of performing in intense action scenes.

The aforementioned production codename ‘Road Rage’ also matches the codename pattern of previous seasons of The Witcher:

  • Season 1: WW (White Wolf)
  • Season 2: MM (Mysterious Monsters)
  • Season 3: EE (Everyone’s Enemy)
  • Season 4: RR (Road Rage)?

Again, we don’t know for certain if this is definitely Season 4 or just a massive coincidence with a completely different 8-part Netflix series that has a company of warriors with restricted growth that meet a group of intrepid travellers. Can there be such a coincidence?

It must also be noted that the dates aren’t set in stone and are always subject to change, especially in times when there’s a writers strike.

Season 3 of The Witcher is in post-production for a June and July release. The Rats spin-off is currently in pre-production. Stay tuned to Redanian Intelligence and do pop into our Discord server to join in on The Witcher conversation.

  1. Everyone knows there is no season 4. Season 3 ends, HC leaves and that’s that, no more Witcher. Sad but there we go.

    1. I’m willing to give Liam Hemsworth a chance. I hope they take what they’ve learned so far and improve the show.
