By The fifth and final season of The Witcher has been wrapped since late last year and it’s been a long period of complete silence from Netflix about it. But now we have an update regarding the release date.
The Witcher Season 5 launching in 2027
Thanks to our friends at What’s on Netflix, who have managed to confirm this via their sources, we have learned that The Witcher‘s fifth and final season will be released sometime in 2027. No exact date has been given yet.
For almost everyone, the expectation was that the new season would release sometime in Fall 2026, as Season 4 did exactly one year prior. Season 5 has been wrapped since September 2025 and it would be a whole year of post-production.
The reason for this delay isn’t known. Perhaps more time is needed to do the special effects or maybe Netflix’s content slate is too full so something has to move a little further.
That said, only a few months ago, in January, the plan was still 2026 as stated by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich herself. So the plans have only changed very recently.
In any case, we’ll wait and see what the 2027 release date will be. Meanwhile, just weeks from now CD Projekt Red will share brand new details of their new expansion for The Witcher 3 called Songs of the Past, also releasing in 2027, so we have that to look forward to as well.
