We’re in the final days of pre-production for the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher with cameras rolling very soon. Regarding casting, Netflix already revealed that Laurence Fishburne would play the fan-favorite Regis and last Summer we reported on the Bonhart casting. Now it’s official with some new ones:
Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart
We already reported on this last July, South African actor Sharlto Copley will play the ruthless bounty hunter Leo Bonhart. It is our understanding that Copley will very likely appear as Bonhart in The Rats prequel first, then in Season 4.
Copley’s recent credits include District 9, Chappie, Beast, Hardcore Henry, Oldboy and more. He’ll soon be seen in the upcoming movie Monkey Man. Now onto the new casting reveals.
Danny Woodburn as Zoltan Chivay
The first new casting of The Witcher Season 4 today is Danny Woodburn as the beloved dwarf Zoltan Chivay, who most will know from The Witcher games. In the books, Zoltan along with his dwarf friends accompanies Geralt and his Hansa for a while.
Woodburn’s credits include Seinfeld, Bones, Baywatch, Beverly Hills 90210 and many more.
James Purefoy as Stefan Skellen
Much has been said about the deep loneliness of Emperor Emhyr and the severe lack of entourage he had in Season 3. Well, in Season 4 he’ll have at least one new friend, even if only temporary. Enter James Purefoy as Stefan Skellen, Emhyr spy and advisor.
Purefoy’s credits include Rome, Altered Carbon, Sex Education and more.
Edmund Kingsley
Another name that we found out later is Edmund Kingsley, son of the great Ben Kingsley. He was recently in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, Slow Horses, Anatomy of a Scandal and more.
Kingsley’s role in The Witcher remains undisclosed for now.
The Witcher Season 4 is in production for a 2025 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book has a planned Winter 2024/2025 release with The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime set for a late 2024 release as well.
