By The second season of Netflix’s hit series The Sandman is still in production with cameras rolling since late last year after they stopped for a few months during the strikes. Previously we made a list of every new cast member that we know of so far. Today we have a list of six episodes of The Sandman Season 2.
The Sandman Season 2 Episode Count and Titles
We’ve learned that there’s a strong possibility that the second season of Netflix’s The Sandman will have 12 episodes total, according to the CV of producer and director Jamie Childs.
Moreover, we have learned the titles of six episodes and they reveal quite a bit. In no particular order since episode order is something we don’t yet know:
- The Song of Orpheus
- More Devils Than Vast Hell Can Hold
- Brief Lives
- Family Blood
- The Ruler of Hell
- Season of Mists
These six episodes could very well form Vol. 1 of The Sandman Season 2 released on one date with the other six potentially released a month after. But we’ll see how Netflix chooses to release them once we get there.
The Song of Orpheus is clearly named after the special issue of the same name. Needless to say, this one will focus on Ruairi O’Connor’s Orpheus. Either that, or he’ll be introduced in a previous episode and given a full one after.
More Devils Than Vast Hell Can Hold is referencing the issue A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which itself is a William Shakespeare quote. We saw The Sandman filming that storyline in Bourne Woods earlier this year.
Brief Lives is named after the Sandman issue of the same name. We already knew that Season 2 was adapting it when we discovered the casting of Danny Capax, the son of lawyer Bernie Capax who appears in Brief Lives.
Family Blood is likely referencing “spilling family blood”, something Dream wishes to avoid. We’ll see how that plays out in the new season.
The Ruler of Hell is clearly referencing Gwendoline Christie’s Lucifer, but likely not only her as she abdicates Hell and the position of the ruler is open. That brings us to Season of Mists, named after the comic collection of the same name. This is the one where we’ll see Odin, Thor, Loki, Anubis and more. These two episodes 99% come one after another.
The Sandman Season 2 is in production for a yet-undetermined release date. Stay tuned for more Sandman news!
