Pre-production actively continues for the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher that will debut Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia as well as see the return of stars Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey. Today we have an update on the filming schedule of the new season.

There’s a small delay on The Witcher Season 4

We previously reported that filming for The Witcher Season 4 would start in March 2024, but as weeks went on, the schedule changed a little bit. Now the cameras are planned to start rolling in April, we hear.

This is nothing out of the ordinary as production teams always have an approximate window in mind at first, and the exact dates are figured out afterwards as the work progresses.

Filming is expected to last until around October of this year. More exact dates will be known as we approach to the end of filming later this year.

After filming Season 4, the production team is expected to make a small pause and proceed right onto Season 5 as writing for it started in January. Netflix hasn’t publicly acknowledged Season 5 as of yet, but perhaps they’ll make an announcement sometime this year. Same goes for The Rats, though, as that project has been in post-production since last July.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what comes our way regarding Witcher news as Season 4 filming approaches closer and closer and later in the year we have the Sirens of the Deep anime and a brand new book from Andrzej Sapkowski.

The Witcher Season 4 is in production for a 2025 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book has a planned Winter 2024/2025 release with The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime set for a late 2024 release as well.
