By Earlier this year Andrzej Sapkowski revealed that he’s working on a new Witcher book and that it would be coming very soon. At the time he said that it would be coming “in a year, not more”, but now we have a more precise date from the man himself.
New Witcher book coming Late 2024 and Early 2025
At the Comic Con in Vienna, Austria, Sapkowski revealed that the next Witcher book first will be released in Poland at the end of 2024, and a few months later in early 2025 it will become available internationally.
Furthermore, Sapkowski teased what it will be about, in his sarcastic humorous way of course: “They made a series based on one short story. They forced me to continue. I’m not complaining. Thanks to this, I now have money for rent.“
There is no series based on one short story, but there will be an anime movie coming also late 2024 based on “A Little Sacrifice” called The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. Perhaps Sapkowski is talking about that? Or maybe he’s writing a continuation of a different short story? We’ll have to wait and see.
Back in 2018, Sapkowski said he won’t be writing the continuation of the saga’s ending in Lady of the Lake, so this fits into that as well.
“The story is complete, the saga has been concluded, so if by any chance I write something in The Witcher universe, and I sure have such intention, it would probably be something like a prequel or a sidequel. Not a sequel.“
If the new book is a continuation of one of the short stories, it definitely fits into the sidequel category, before the story of the novels started.
The Witcher Season 4 is in production for a 2025 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book has a planned Winter 2024/2025 release with The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime set for a late 2024 release as well.
