By Ten years have passed since the release of Season of Storms, the latest book in The Witcher saga, which was set between some of the short stories, and it’s been 24 years since Lady of the Lake, the ending of the saga. Author Andrzej Sapkowski has been giving various hints about writing a new book, but never anything certain. Now, he finally gave a confirmation.
Sapkowski is working on a new Witcher book “quite diligently”
In a new live-stream with Ukrainian fans by Fantastic Talk (s), Sapkowski was asked what was he working on lately. Here is his answer:
“I never say these things because with me you never know. Maybe I’ll do something, maybe I won’t. And so far, when I said that I would write something, and then I didn’t write it, people complained as if I had deceived them and as if I had lied.
That’s why I don’t like to talk about what I’m doing until I finish doing it. Because until I finish it, I don’t think it exists. But since I always make exceptions for Ukrainians, I will do it this time too. Yes, I’m working on a new book about witcher and quite diligently. It may take a year, but no longer.”
So as the man himself said, “it may take a year, but no longer“. If everything goes well, we should have a brand new Witcher book on our shelves perhaps in 2024!

What the new Witcher book may be about?
Nothing at all is known about what we’ll read in the new book next year, but Sapkowski has clarified what we won’t read. At a Polish Comic-Con Asked about the possibility of him continuing the story beyond the events of The Lady of the Lake, Sapkowski gave a firm “No”.
“The story is complete, the saga has been concluded, so if by any chance I write something in The Witcher universe, and I sure have such intention, it would probably be something like a prequel or a sidequel. Not a sequel.“
That was back in 2018. Is it still the case? Has he changed his mind in five years? Who knows, but he seemed firm back then. Perhaps Geralt will have another adventure set between the events of the short stories? We’ll have to wait and see.
