House of the Dragon Season 2 Night Shoots: Sea Snake, Gold Cloaks and more

One comment

The second season of HBO’s hit series House of the Dragon, starring Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, and Olivia Cooke, races toward the finish line of its filming schedule with cameras rolling at Leavesden Studios and the end is just around the corner at the end of September. Today we have a small update on the last two weeks of filming.

The Sea Snake

Some of the night shoots in the last two weeks were taking place on House of the Dragon‘s backlot ship. Earlier during the filming, it was used as Corlys Velaryon‘s ship Sea Snake, but this is the sole ship for the entire production, therefore it can be refurbished and used as different ship.

The ship is right next to the stairs of the photo above. Here’s a drone “tour” of Leavesden Studios by photographer UnBoxPHD so you can see where it is exactly.

At the gates in King’s Landing

Another set of night shoots were taking place a few days ago next to one of the numerous gates in King’s Landing with the involvement of Gold Cloaks.

In a different area of Leavesden Studios, but still in King’s Landing we can see Aegon’s green banner with the golden dragon hanging next to the gates of the Red Keep.

Some minor casting updates

In other news, we have some casting updates. Anna Francolini (Sex Education, The Diplomat), who we reported on several months ago, will play the role of Lady Mallister in House of the Dragon Season 2.

There are many more cast with unknown roles that we have revealed on our Twitter and we’ll make a Season 2 cast list soon with all of them along with some new ones.

Meanwhile, below are some curious roles hinting at Triarchy‘s further involvement, which brings us back to the first item in today news: Corlys Velaryon and his ship.

No doubt the two Sea Snakes, the man and the ship, will see some action. If you remember, we saw a glimpse of Steve Toussaint in battle armor in Wales this July.

The production of Season 2 is expected to wrap in September and it’s expected to be released in 2024. Do follow Redanian Intelligence for news on House of the Dragon and other fantasy series.
