House of the Dragon Season 2 May Include the Undead

The second season of HBO’s hit series House of the Dragon, starring Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, and Olivia Cooke, races toward the finish line of its filming schedule with location shoots wrapped in Bourne Woods, Surrey at the end of August. Now, cameras are rolling at Leavesden Studios and we have something curious from there.

Undead in House of the Dragon Season 2?

The info comes from the fact that a reference board labelled “Undead” was spotted in a crowd makeup booth of House of the Dragon Season 2 at Leavesden Studios. Meaning, this is for extras.

It doesn’t necessarily outright confirm the presence of the undead in House of the Dragon Season 2, but why have it there? As a decoration of the work in the past? Perhaps it’s a reference for body and facial decomposition for regular dead, fallen during the war between the Blacks and the Greens?

Let’s assume for a second the Undead are in. We already have The Wall confirmed and we have a video of the Night’s Watch riders filming in Bourne Woods. So if we were to see them, we’d see the undead in whatever sequence those other two elements are involved.

We know for certain we’ll see the North when Jacaerys Targaryen will fly to Winterfell to meet Cregan Stark and the theory based on these Wall sets is that the two of them will visit The Wall during that time.

But with all that said, lore-wise it’s a head-scratcher. The undead or wights are raised by the White Walkers or Others, which are dormant at this time in history and no one even thinks they are real. Same goes for the undead. No one has seen them for thousands of years before the events of the first book. So it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Unless they make it make sense somehow.

In summary, it’s an interesting piece of the puzzle. It could end up being exactly what it looks like, or it could be something else. Time will tell.

The production of Season 2 is expected to wrap in September and it’s expected to be released in 2024. Do follow Redanian Intelligence for news on House of the Dragon and other fantasy series.
