House of the Dragon Season 2 Currently Films Aemond Scenes

The HBO hit series House of the Dragon is filming another major scene this week in the backlot of Leavesden Studios. News on the Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, and Olivia Cooke starring hit series has been sparse since they moved back to the studio in July after nearly a month of outdoor shoots in Wales. The continuing strike by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild has also cast a gloom over the series with some actors and writers being part of the striking guilds.

Aemond spotted on set this week. Regency?

We have news that this week saw the filming of Prince Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell). According to our sources, one of the scenes filmed looked like green soldiers presumably executing someone on Prince Aemond Targaryen’s command. This is King’s Landing.

UPDATE: Photographer UnBoxPHD shared an aerial video of yesterday’s filming with Aemond and others:

Here’s the screenshot of the aforementioned scene with Aemond, two people on both knees before him and two Green guards behind them:

In the video we can also see that this is indeed King’s Landing and the Red Keep, specifically one of its courtyards.

Another scene was that of Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) at the top of a tower looking down and speaking to another character. That set is King’s Landing and Larys is at the Red Keep.

Another scene had a man with a full white beard with Clare Kilner, who’s directing episodes 2 and 5 of the new season. It’s possible that this is Episode 5 and Aemond has become Prince Regent after King Aegon’s bad injuries at Rook’s rest that will happen in Episode 4.

Earlier we reported that the Battle over Rook’s Rest will be filmed in Bourne Woods, Surrey over two weeks in August. Preparations for the shoot are already underway at the site.

We have also heard of House of the Dragon signboards near Caeser’s Camp at Aldershot, although we haven’t been able to confirm it.

The production of Season 2 is expected to wrap in September and is expected to be released in 2024. Do follow Redanian Intelligence for news on House of the Dragon and other fantasy series.
