The Witcher Season 3 to Film in Morocco

Production for the new season of Netflix’s The Witcher has concluded in South Wales just two days ago with Henry Cavill being photographed on set fighting not once, but twice. In one of those occasions we saw Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan as well.

But location shoots don’t end in Wales as there’s one more country for The Witcher Tour to visit!

Destination: Erfoud, Morocco

Now, production of The Witcher Season 3 is moving on to Erfoud, Morocco for the next week The country is a first for The Witcher, but in the past it has accommodated such productions as Star Wars, James Bond Game of Thrones.

While we don’t know what scenes exactly they are planning to film in Morocco, guessing should be very easy as book readers know one very fitting in-universe location from Time of Contempt that would require Moroccan scenery: the Korath Desert.

We likely even saw parts of that sequence back from April, when they were filming in Croatia. Also, very notably only Freya Allan was present that day on set, so it fits.

We don’t know the exact locations they’ll be filming in Morocco, but we’ll find out soon enough. Whichever it is, it should be visually consistent with the scenery they picked in Croatia.

Season 3 of The Witcher is in production until September 2022 for a 2023 release. The live-action prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin is in post-production after two weeks of reshoots and is currently eyed for a Christmas 2022 release.
