Witcher recap: Season 2 filming heads to the final week in splendor, with Cintra dances and a looming threat

A lot has been happening at Arborfield Studios the past couple of weeks as The Witcher filming heads to the final week. While showrunner Lauren Hissrich, and much of her crew have been working 6-day weeks, many of the remaining cast and crew have wrapped. Lead actors Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan continue to film their parts.

Freya Allan shared the mood at the studios in her Instagram story.

The witchers of Kaer Morhen (except Geralt) have wrapped filming Season 2. Paul Bullion (Lambert) and Joel Adrian (Hemrik) have both confirmed their wrap on social media. Our sources tell us that the rest of the Witchers have also wrapped filming the past week and confirm our theory of an extended arc for Kaer Morhen in Season 2. Anna Shaffer (Triss) has also updated her IMDB profile to list her role in six Season 2 episodes. While IMDb isn’t normally a source, this lines up with what we’ve been hearing before.

But the witchers are not the only ones with an extended story arc compared to the books. Royce Pierreson (Istredd) also confirmed his wrap on social media. However, Tom Canton (Filavandrel) and Mecia Simson (Francesca) posted they were still filming. So, they may still be seen at the studios in the final week.

The Cintra flashbacks continue to be filmed and an almost identical Cintra ballroom set of Season one has been created in Arborfield Studios. There were even extras with roles marked as “Cintra dancer” for an Ed Bazalgette episode. Bazalgette is directing the fifth episode and the season finale, so we’ll see when this Cintra dance flashback exactly takes place.

A lot of green screen shoots, both indoors and outdoors have been happening as well. These photos from inside Arborfield studios show a glimpse of what has been filming. The grand costumes and accessories suggest that the production has gone big in Season 2.

On a lighter note, Henry Cavill got pizzas for everyone at the studios on Wednesday. Going by the reactions on Instagram, it was much appreciated by the crew.

Lastly, the Wild Hunt has been filmed at Saunton Beach, Devon. From photos obtained by The Daily Mail, we have a good look at this looming threat in Ciri’s future. These fan favorite characters will be seen in the season finale according to our sources.

Season two of The Witcher filming wraps next week, and the series will air in the second half of 2021. Stay tuned with Redanian Intelligence for the latest Witcher news.
