The first Covid lockdown hit the production of the second season of Netflix’s The Witcher in unexpected ways. Not only production had to be delayed, but there were departures among the crew and cast and replacements had to be made.
One such case was with director Geeta Patel (Meet the Patels, House of the Dragon) who originally was set to direct episodes 6 and 7 of the second season. Patel left the project on good amicable terms, we were told, but someone had to step in and that was Louise Hooper (Holby City, Cold Feet, Flesh and Blood).

As far as we can tell, Hooper began her work on The Witcher on location in October and that was when we first revealed she was the replacement for Geeta Patel. She even posted several pictures from there. More recently there was some confusion as to whether Hooper simply took over Patel’s episodes or maybe perhaps some episodes were rearranged between other directors as well.
