We’ve learned that active pre-production for The Hedge Knight will start early April 2024 under the production codename ‘Sweetfoot‘. Sweetfoot was the name of Dunk’s horse, for those who don’t remember.

The pre-production start in April also coincides with what House of the Dragon storyboard artist Adam Pescott posted on his Facebook on March 8, saying that he’d start on his next project “in a couple of weeks” with a photo of an Egg. Same post on Instagram he added tags #hedgeknight and #sevenkingdoms.

Casting for the main actors is still ongoing as far as we know.

Filming for The Hedge Knight is set to begin early June 2024 with Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav revealing earlier that the series will premiere in late 2025.

Showrunner for The Hedge Knight is House of the Dragon writer Ira Parker, who is behind the fourth episode of Season 1. George R. R. Martin is reportedly writing for this series as well. His last TV episode was in Season 4 of Game of Thrones.

Other known writers for The Hedge Knight are Annie Julia Wyman (The Chair, Tokyo Vice), Aziza Barnes (Snowfall, Teenage Bounty Hunters), Hiram Martinez (The Last Ship, Snowfall).

The number of episodes for The Hedge Knight hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Martin once suggested that it would most likely be six with Season 1 adapting the first novella, The Hedge Knight.

House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere on HBO in June 2024. We will keep following the show as the promotional campaign kicks into high gear in the coming months.
