House of the Dragon Season 2 Adds a New Member of House Strong and More New Cast

Season 2 of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon starring Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke continues to film in Leavesden Studios despite both the WGA and SAF-AFTRA strikes, because of their deal with Equity UK which is not part of the strike.

Today, we have a few new castings to share for Season 2 of House of the Dragon.

Graeme McKnight as Paxter Strong

Actor Graeme McKnight has joined the second season of House of the Dragon as Paxter Strong. Strong will appear in three episodes of the new season, so his role is recurring.

There is no character named Paxter Strong in George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood, so he’s rather a show invention. Or perhaps more likely one of Simon Strong‘s (Simon Russell Beale) grandsons, who were never given names in the books. Thus, half an invention, half based on the books.

If that’s the case, Paxter would be a cousin to Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin) and the late Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr) as well as Larys Strong (Matthew Needham).

More new House of the Dragon Season 2 cast

The following you probably have already seen if you’re following our Twitter as we’ve already shared them over the past weeks, but we’ll go over them again here.

First up, we have two actors who have been filming in Wales earlier this month. Sadly, their roles remain unknown for now.

They are Roderick Hill (The Witcher) and Samson Kayo (Our Flag Means Death). Both have been filming in the same scenes as James Doherty’s Cley. Doherty will appear in episodes directed by Geeta Patel and Loni Peristere, so the other two will be seen in those episodes as well.

Next we have three more, whose roles we also don’t know. They are Jack Staddon (Harlots), Tom Cawte (London Fields) and Erica Ford (The Nevers). Naturally, there’s no lack of speculation as to who they play, but nothing can be said for certain as of now.

The production is expected to continue in Leavesden for the rest of July, with possibly another location shoot in August before they wrap in September.
