While monster hunting is largely a backdrop in The Witcher books, the Netflix show starring Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan brought that element to the forefront and keeps maintaining a certain “monster quota” each season. This next season is no different and according to various sources, we’ll see the scariest, most gruesome monster yet, a true abomination.
The Flesh Monster

The Witcher Season 3 will have Henry Cavill’s Geralt face a true abomination, a monster made from hundreds of corpses of women and girls melted together.
That said, monster designs can be looking scary all they want, but it’s the origins of a monster that makes it terrifying. As you can guess, this is the work of a certain staff-wielding mage, who kidnaps girls, conducts terrible experiments on them and discards their bodies.
And the girls aren’t just random girls, they are Aretuza novices, kidnapped right from the sorceresses’ noses. One can’t envy the average Aretuza student during that period. You’re either at risk of getting turned into an eel by Tissaia or kidnapped for experiments by her lover Vilgefortz.

We broke the news about this one just recently about this one, but since then a few more official details have come out. For instance, Head of Franchise Design, Andrew Laws spoke about the hardest monster they had to create for the series so far and it sounds like the Flesh Monster:
“We had to deal with the dynamism of it, very much between prosthetics, creature concept design and VFX, and try to figure out how to evolve this thing and make sense out of it. Because it’s not a singular entity that is… You know, does it have four legs? Does it have two legs? Does it stand up? Does it wave its arms? Does it have magic?“
But this storyline goes beyond just Geralt finding and raiding Vilgefortz’s temporary lab. As far as we know, the disappearance of young girls will be a bigger arc within The Witcher Season 3.

The Witcher Season 3 is available on Netflix with The Rats prequel in post-production and The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime by Studio Mir is far in production. Stay tuned to Redanian Intelligence and do pop into our Discord server to join in on The Witcher conversation.
