The second season of HBO’s hit House of the Dragon starring Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke is currently in full production in Wales with roughly two more weeks to go. News a photos have been a little more scarce compared to Spain, but we do have something curious nonetheless.
New personal sigil for Rhaenyra?

We have managed to obtain new photos of the filming that’s been going on at the Trefor Quarry, Wales over the past few days and one thing stood out: it appears Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen has a new sigil.
In Fire and Blood, her personal sigil combined the traditional black-red Targaryen sigil along with the sigils of Velaryons and Arryns. In House of the Dragon the sigil appears to be just black with an equally dark emblem of a dragon that doesn’t appear to be red.

The image quality is far from ideal, but at the very least this can’t be Aegon‘s sigil as we’ve seen it during the Spain filming and it doesn’t resemble the one above.
Here’s the Aegon sigil as photographed by Javi Borrega in Caceres, Spain last month.

If this indeed is what we think it is, then the designers behind the show went for a less traditional medieval coat of arms, which was more colorful.
That being said, there’s still a possibility that the image, the lighting, the sun etc. just simply misrepresent the true colors and the dragon on Rhaenyra’s sigil may be just dark red.
