Every since his announcement last April, Robbie Amell‘s new character in The Witcher Season 3 has been a mystery, aside from his brief character description. Questions arose whether he was Isengrim, Iorveth or someone else. Today we’ll take a closer look at Robbie Amell’s Gallatin.
Who is Gallatin and what does he do?

The official description for Robbie Amell’s Gallatin reads as follows: “A born fighter, Gallatin leads an army of guerrilla Scoia’tael fighting on behalf of Nilfgaard. Unafraid to speak his truth, Gallatin’s loyalty to his people ultimately leads him on a collision course with Francesca over power.”
So yes, the first thing about Gallatin is that he’s an ally of Mecia Simson’s Francesca, but they heavily disagree on what they should focus on.
While Francesca is focused on finding Ciri as per Istredd’s tip in the finale of Season 2, Gallatin is more practical and pragmatic and wants to focus on the actual war at hand. Manpower and resources are understandably scarce so it’s a bit of a conflict.

While Filavandrel and Gage obviously support Francesca, Gallatin has a supporter in Ciri’s old companion Dara, and that makes for a temporary fraction in the elven camp.
Another thing to notice about Gallatin is right on his face and that’s his big ugly scar. No, he is not Isengrim at all, but Gallatin’s looks seem to have been clearly inspired by him.
Last thing to know about Gallatin is that for an elf that is no fan of humans, he has an unexpected old human friend. A certain fellow not from Nilfgaard, but Vicovaro.

As to how big Gallatin’s role is, during filming of Season 3 last year we noticed that Robbie Amell had wrapped rather quickly and was back home in Canada for the majority of the months when the rest of the cast were filming.
The Witcher Season 3 is available on Netflix with The Rats prequel in post-production and The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime by Studio Mir is far in production. Stay tuned to Redanian Intelligence and do pop into our Discord server to join in on The Witcher conversation.
