The third season of Netflix’s The Witcher is on the horizon this summer with Henry Cavill playing Geralt of Rivia for the last time. His replacement for Season 4 is Liam Hemsworth and he is planned to start his work later this year, but now we have a confirmation for our earlier scoop about Season 5 as well.

In a new interview, The Witcher‘s casting director Sophie Holland confirmed that Season 4 is set to start filming soon with Season 5 following after.

We’re just about to start filming on season four with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap then we go straight into season five.

If you recall, back in September 2022 we reported that Netflix was planning to film both Season 4 and Season 5 back-to-back. As far as we know, Season 4 is either mostly or entirely written and Season 5 is already outlined.

An earlier report suggests that Season 4 of The Witcher is planned to start filming in September 2023 and wrap in May 2024. It is possible that this is the schedule of both seasons as it spans 9 months, while Season 3 was filmed in just 5. We’ll find out more as time goes on.

I had a really lovely opportunity recently with a very special — almost standalone — episode of season four of The Witcher, which is exploring a completely new group of people. We found a boy called Connor Crawford and we were able to put him in this group of kids in The Witcher.

The whole group is very exciting in terms of talent: Christelle Elwin, Juliette Alexandra, Ben Radcliffe. You meet the characters in season three and then they come into their own in season four.

For context, Elwin and Alexandra play Mistle and Reef respectively. Crawford and Radcliffe play Asse and Giselher (or vice versa) as far as we know with Aggy K. Adams and Fabian McCallum portraying Iskra and Kayleigh.

  1. I’ve lost almost all my interest in the WItcher TV. I have remarkably low expectations for Season 3. I couldn’t even bring myself to watch Blood Origins. To be fair, I also stopped watching LotR after 3 episodes. A story has to be good for me to watch a show. LotR and season 2 of the Witcher were…bad. Its shocking that both theses shows are surviving.
