One of Netflix’s biggest hits of 2022 was Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman which launched to much fan and critical acclaim. Things got a little bit nervous when Netflix took its time to renew the series for a second season, but thankfully they did. Now, we even know when they intend to start production!
The Sandman Season 2 to be two parts?

We’ve learned that the new season of The Sandman will be shot in a quite non-traditional way for a TV series. Usually, seasons of a TV series are shot continuously, but that’s not quite the case here.
The filming of The Sandman Season 2 will be divided in two parts. First block will be shot from June to October 2023. The second block is aimed to be shot from January to April 2024.
Does that mean the second season of The Sandman will be released as two parts? We certainly wouldn’t rule that out. It does look possible, even likely that Netflix would choose to release the new season this way.
The streamer has been delving more and more into partial releases. Stranger Things got that treatment, Arcane, even the first season of The Sandman had a “bonus” episode, which was shot along with the rest.
What is the release date for The Sandman Season 2?

Although Netflix hasn’t announced the release date for The Sandman Season 2, one is free to take the filming dates and speculate.
It is entirely possible to take the footage of the first block of episodes and get them finished by approximately the second half of 2024 since their filming wraps in October 2023.
If Netflix chooses August 2024 as the initial release date, just like Season 1 was released in August 2022, they would have nine months for post-production for the first batch of episodes.
Same could go for the second block. If they finish filming in April 2024, it’s technically possible to aim for a very late 2024 or early 2025 release.
But this is purely speculation based on filming dates. We’ll wait and see how things go.
