One of the biggest news concerning the production of House of the Dragon Season 2 was the departure of director and co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik, with another Game of Thrones veteran Alan Taylor taking over and directing multiple episodes of the second season.
But with that announcement there was no mention of who else will direct the new episodes. Now we have some news in that regard.
Returning: Geeta Patel
We’ve learned that Geeta Patel will return to the director’s seat for more House of the Dragon. We don’t know how many episodes will she direct, but we hope it will be more than one.
If you recall, Patel directed the eighth episode of House of the Dragon, “Lord of the Tides” with many strong and emotional scenes, and perhaps one of the most acclaimed TV scenes of the entirety of 2022: King Viserys Tagaryen walking to the Iron Throne across the throne room.
Returning: Clare Kilner
This one we aren’t fully certain, but we have reasons to believe that Clare Kilner too may return for House of the Dragon Season 2. Like with Patel, we have no notion of how many episodes she’d direct if she is indeed involved.
Kilner directed three episodes of the first season: “King of the Narrow Sea” (104), “We Light the Way” (105) and “The Green Council” (109).
UPDATE: Kilner will indeed return as she confirmed that herself:
New: Loni Peristere (Rumored)
Lastly, we also have reasons to believe that Loni Peristere may be directing episodes of House of the Dragon Season 2. As with Kilner, we aren’t fully certain yet in regards to his involvement.
For instance, we do know Peristere is in London, UK right now prepping for a new project.
Peristere is known for his action-oriented work in series like Banshee and Warrior as well as horror in American Horror Story. He also directed two episodes of the third season Netflix’s The Witcher that is due this Summer.
