Filming for the new season of The Witcher has been in full swing for almost two months now. It started with a bang in Central Europe with Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan all present, then moved back to England, where they filmed in studio as well as some locations, including Belleteyn in Epping Forest.

The Witcher filming at Swinley Forest

Now, after nearly a month of studio work, The Witcher is back on location. This time the location is the Swinley Forest, which is just a 20-minute drive from Longcross Studios. We know at least Freya Allan‘s Ciri is among those who are filming. It’s a possibility that Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra are there as well or at the very least Chalotra.

The scenes are being filmed by Gandja Monteiro, who is directing episodes 3 and 4 of the new season. In fact, we saw her scouting the very same forest just over a week ago along with her DoP Dale McCready.

When to Wales?

As we reported earlier, Gandja Monteiro has also scouted several location in South Wales, which indicates their intent on filming there soon. But when is ‘soon’ supposed to be?

We don’t know the exact dates, but judging by the fact that Stephen Surjik is done and it’s Monteiro’s turn to film her block of episodes, Wales must be the destination somewhere within the next few weeks. If you are from Wales and are willing to go and see what they would be up to, just hang tight at little longer!

Here’s what Monteiro has been scouting in Wales:

Season 3 of The Witcher is in production until September 2022 for a 2023 release. The live-action prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin is in post-production after two weeks of reshoots and is currently eyed for a Christmas 2022 release.
