By The second season of Netflix’s fantasy hit The Witcher will introduce a number of intriguing new characters to appear alongside stars Henry Cavill (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Freya Allan (Ciri). In a first announcement, Netflix has already given us a look at some of the new big players including the powerful elven sorceress Francesca Findabair and the witchers of Kaer Morhen. Thanks to a new audition tape, we now know that another fan favorite from Andrzej Sapkowski‘s beloved novels will make the cut: The bad-ass, no-nonsense Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia!
In the tape, uploaded by an actress, Meve (codenamed Queen Mabel) appears to be holding court with two other men. We have the transcription of the now deleted video below! Keep in mind that audition lines are usually written just for the casting sessions and probably won’t make it to the show. Also remember, that tapes are usually uploaded by actors who didn’t get the part, so chances are we won’t be seeing Nina in the role. That being said, this does sound like the Meve we know from the books and CDPR’s Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales!

Meve: You’re late!
Unnamed man: I would offer apologies, but since it’s my purse paying to clean up your mess I’ll skip it!
Vinnie: We need an ally not a janitor. You need to mind your tone!
Meve: Sit down and quiet both of you. You can measure your pricks in your own time! I can assure you we have bigger things to discuss. Princess Serene is alive.
Vinnie: That’s impossible!
Meve: And worse yet. The South knows it! Their search parties are already days ahead of ours.
Unnamed man: Well then, that is a problem. Fortunately, it is a problem I’m prepared to take on for a fee.
Vinnie: This is extortion! We won’t hear of it! I’ll have the king’s council…
Meve: Do shut up Vinnie! Name me a price. I want the girl dead by sunrise.
Now this is welcome news indeed! While the lines may have been written for casting purposes only, we can safely assume that some form of the plot will make it to the show in one way or another. From the dialogue, which is very reminiscent of the famed king’s council scene at Hagge, we can gather that the bloodhounds on both sides of the Yaruga (i.e. the Northern kingdoms and Nilfgaard) have picked up Ciri’s (codenamed Princess Serene) scent and are on her trail. Vinnie is clearly meant to be a councilor while the unnamed man seems to be some sort of a hunter.

I only played Thronebreaker, but Lena Headey and Charlize Theron are two no-brainers.
