The Witcher’s Henry Cavill Reveals ‘Roach’ Ahead of San Diego Comic Con

With The Witcher’s debut at San Diego Comic Con coming up on July 19, lead actor Henry Cavill has given us our first tease of a beloved character: his mare Roach.

The still is a moody, winter scene with Roach carrying Geralt and his pack of Witcher potions along the road. This is a familiar image for any fan of the books and games. Tweeting out the picture of Geralt and Roach, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich wrote: “Everyone needs a best friend. World, meet Roach.”

Netflix’s UK Twitter account posted another photo from the shoot, captioning it: “We’ve finally decided to announce the biggest star of The Witcher… meet Roach”. The image gives the impression of this being a screenshot from a trailer or teaser which many speculate will be debuting during the show’s Hall H panel.

It’s the fourth official promotional image of Cavill’s Geralt Netflix have released. We’ve now had our first glimpses of Geralt’s iconic medallion, silver and steel swords and steed.

The Witcher releases in December 2019 on Netflix and stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri.

The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
