The Witcher adds Shadow & Bone composer for Season 2

The music of The Witcher has been one of its most crucial parts with tunes coming from such enormous talent as Marcin Przybyłowicz and Mikolai Stroinski from CDPR’s The Witcher games to Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli in The Witcher from Netflix and later on, the legendary Bear McCreary who will compose the music for The Witcher: Blood Origin. Today we have a new addition to that mighty cast of people: Joseph Trapanese.

Joseph Trapanese’s Incite Management agency confirms that he will be composing music for The Witcher Season 2.

Trapanese is a very experienced composer. He has worked in his career so far on such productions as Tron: LegacyOblivionRaid and The Greatest Showman. He also recently worked as a composer for another hit fantasy series Shadow and Bone. If you have seen it, you know that the music there is quite a treat for one’s ears.

How this change will affect the soundtrack of the second season is not known yet. However, Lauren Hissrich mentioned during WitcherCon that we can expect new songs to be performed by Jaskier, so let’s cross our fingers that it will achieve at least the same success as Toss A Coin To Your Witcher.

Netflix’s TUDUM event is just around the corner and we’re excited to see what else we learn very soon. Stay tuned!

  1. Let’s hope we’re still getting music from Sonya & giona. S1 soundtrack was very, very good. I would be happy though if they added the composers of the games.

  2. The music of Season 1 was a bit underwhelming compared to what it was in The Witcher 3, even though Sonya Belousova’s talent is remarkable. The comparison isn’t entirely fair as The Witcher 3 used a full orchestra, choir and the Percival Schuttenbach medevial music combo. Sonya and Giona composed, arranged and performed all the music and also did the editing. Quite a feat. Still, the music style of The Witcher 3 is certainly superior and the idea to bring in Percival Schuttenbach with some “original” medieval music was great and it really pays off. I would like to have something of that style in the show as well. To everyone who might not know I enthusiastically recommend The Witcher 3 life concert performed in Cracow in 2016. It is on youtube. Fantastic performance.

  3. The members of the Percival Schuttenbach folk band look (and sound) like they have just fallen out of the Witcher World. As far as I know, their musical head, Kasia Bromirska, has contributed original pieces for the Witcher 3 soundtrack. I very much admire her talent and her success in a difficult profession. A great musician, living her own musical lifestyle. She made an appearance with her current band on the Witcher com earlier this year. It would be great to have some more of her music on the show.
