September Filming Recap of Harry Potter and More News

HBO’s Harry Potter TV series continued to film mostly out of the public eye for the third month. The John Lithgow, Nick Frost, and Paapa Essiedu starring TV series now goes by a new codename “Brown Cat” while earlier it went as “Dark Train”. The reason for the change is not known, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it is to maintain secrecy during location filming, since “Dark Train” was widely published in the media.

Despite the secrecy, the tremendous enthusiasm among fans, the residents, and the media ensured that we got leaks when the series was filmed outside the studio. September didn’t disappoint either, and we got some great leaks from location shoots.

Filming at Wardown Park, Luton with Harry’s parents

The series filmed scenes of James and Lily Potter at Wardown Park in Luton on 18 September. Filming took place at night in secrecy. Thanks to the residents, we got some good videos of the filming.

One of the videos shows a couple rushing across the bridge, while another figure seems to be carrying a baby. The scene may be that of James, Lily, and Harry Potter before they are attacked by Voldemort.

Another video shows actors who resemble James and Lily Potter being filmed at the location.

Filming at Hoddesdon

Filming near the clock tower in Hoddesdon took place on September 23. We had mentioned the filming in our August recap, and the reporters did not disappoint.

We have photos of Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursely and Jon Fulong as presumably Dedalus Diggle.

Other scenes filmed on the day include one where a group of wizards who are celebrating the defeat of Voldemort happen to block access to Vernon’s car on the road, and he’s seen honking at them as he makes past their celebrations.

Filming at Forest Lodge, Windsor

Forest Lodge, the new residence of the Prince and the Princess of Wales, is also one of the locations for the Harry Potter series. About half a mile behind Forest Lodge, a huge set of Hogsmeade Station has been constructed, along with half a mile of track for the Hogwarts Express. The new Hogwarts Express was also seen getting transported to the Lodge for filming.

Filming at the location took place at night on Friday, 26 September, and the Royal family was also present to watch the filming and meet the cast.

Filming of the boat scene at Wardown Park, Luton

The series returned to Wardown Park for the second time on Saturday, September 27, to film the scene where the students take the boats to Hogwarts.

Upcoming filming locations

Cadgwith, Cornwall

The Harry Potter series will be filmed at Cadgwith, Cornwall, between October 6-10. The road between Prazegooth Lane and Campion Lane will be closed for filming. The proximity of the road to the beach suggests that the beach may be the location for the filming.

Kynance Cove, Cornwall

Between October 6 and October 10, the road between Kynance Cove Cafe and a little beyond Kynance Cove parking and restrooms has been restricted for filming the Harry Potter series. Kynance Cove, a very unique landmark, could be a filming location.

Lustleigh, Devon

Filming will take place at various locations near Lustleigh in Devon County between October 9 and October 16. Not much is known about the filming at the moment, but the town looks like it could be Godric’s Hollow.

As HBO continues to announce cast, we expect more announcements in October.

The confirmed cast list is as follows:

Harry Potter series will film until May 2026 and is eyeing a 2027 release. Season 2 will begin filming back-to-back after Season 1 after a short break. Stay tuned to Redanian Intelligence for more news.
