HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is in post-production after several months of filming last year and a some brief reshoots this summer. Nevertheless, it’s been announced that the first season will arrive in 2026 and the second season is being written as we speak. Despite the second season being in development, no official announcement has come from HBO, but that might change very soon.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms reportedly renewed for two more seasons

According to reliable industry insider DanielRPK, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been renewed for Season 2 and 3 at HBO. There’s also talk of all six episodes each season being 30-35 minutes long.
This comes as no surprise as the second season has been in development for several months now. In March 2025, George R.R. Martin already confirmed that speaking to Collider.
Moreover, HBO executive Francesca Orsi spoke about Season 2 and 3 back in February: “We’re already planning on how do we build this for the three seasons in total. We’re not picking it up officially, but it’s looking very good. We’re looking at it as a holistic piece, Seasons 2 and 3, because there’s three novellas.”
The first season has been announced to have been pushed back to “winter” 2026 according to HBO executive Casey Bloys. That would mean January or February 2026.
George R.R. Martin himself was very pleased with the first season when he posted about it on his blog: “I’ve seen all six episodes now (the last two in rough cuts, admittedly), and I loved them. Dunk and Egg have always been favorites of mine, and the actors we found to portray them are just incredible. The rest of the cast are terrific as well. Wait until you guys meet the Laughing Storm. and Tanselle Too-Tall.“
As always, we will follow the filming of A Knight of the Seven Kingdom as closely as we can, so expect more casting news and behind-the-scenes details in the coming months.
