The Witcher‘s fight choreography has always been a highlight of each season with such action scenes as the Blaviken fight, Geralt vs Vilgefortz and many more. Wolfgang Stegemann not returning to The Witcher, Christopher Clark Cowan to replace

We’ve learned that Wolfgang Stegemann, who designed the Blaviken fight in Season 1 and served full-time as fight designer and second unit director in Season 3, will not be returning to the final two seasons of The Witcher. A returning action director, Christopher Clark Cowan has stepped in to replace him.
Cowan most recently was the fight designer on The Acolyte, where the action scenes got a lot of positive attention among viewers. In the past, he also worked on such action-heavy titles as Kingsman 2, its prequel The King’s Man, Argylle and Wonder Woman.
On The Witcher, Cowan briefly worked in Season 1, where he was also action designer and second unit director on the episode “Of Banquets, Bastards and Burials”, which adapted A Question of Price.
Prior to him it was Vladimir Furdik for the first months of the shoot, and later Henry Cavill brought in Wolfgang Stegemann as the two knew each other from Mission Impossible: Fallout. Here’s that scene Cowan worked on:
The Witcher Season 5 is in post-production for a 2026 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book Crossroads of Ravens is available internationally since September 30, 2025. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4 is now in full production.
