A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Wraps Filming

The news cycle in the A Song of Ice and Fire fandom has been quite turbulent lately with the discussions over House of the Dragon Season 2 and later, with George R. R. Martin voicing a fraction of his critique for the season as well as Ryan Condal and HBO responding to that. Interesting times, truly. But there is some good news in Westeros, finally.

Filming for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms started on June 14, 2024 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and after four months of filming it has finally come to an end with the main unit, just like we reported previously that it would last until mid-September.

As far as we know, production for the Dunk & Egg series went smoothly and without complications, which is always good to hear. Time truly flied by, but the first season only has six episodes, so the shorter production makes perfect sense as opposed to six months dedicated to the 8-episode House of the Dragon Season 2.

The release date is currently unclear, but we do know it’s 2025. At one point, Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav mentioned “late 2025”, and at another we had George R. R. Martin mention “early 2025” in his blog, before editing that out and leaving just 2025.

GRRM recently commented on the production of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms to The Hollywood Reporter: “I visited the set in Northern Ireland in July and loved what I saw. Great cast. [The lead characters] Dunk and Egg look as if they walked out of the pages of my book. My readers are going to love them. I certainly do. [Showrunner Ira Parker] is doing a great job.

As always, we will follow the filming of A Knight of the Seven Kingdom as closely as we can, so expect more casting news and behind-the-scenes details in the coming months.
