Laurence Fishburne Joins The Witcher Season 4 as Regis

Each new season Netflix’s The Witcher has one or two roles that everyone is eager to find out who would portray them. Previous years those included Nivellen, Philippa, Dijkstra and others. The big one for Season 4 is definitely Regis and Netflix has finally dropped the news.

Red Carpet Premiere & Party For Peacock's New Comedy Series "MacGruber"

Today Netflix officially announced that Laurence Fishburne has been cast as everyone’s favorite barber-surgeon and vampire Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff- Godefroy or just Regis.

Netflix is seemingly being coy about Regis being a vampire saying he has a “mysterious past”, so that will be its own reveal in the actual season most likely.

Fishburne, whose career includes such titles as The Matrix, Hannibal and John Wick, gave a brief comment for the press release: “I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher.

Netflix also shared a synopsis of The Witcher Season 4 that reads: “After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

As we reported earlier, Season 4 of The Witcher is currently planned to start filming in March 2024 and wrap around October of this year.

Before we wrap here, here’s a little tidbit that we had to keep to ourselves until now. Last summer, before the SAG-AFTRA strikes, we heard that Netflix was interested in Gary Oldman for the role of Regis. We don’t know what role the strike played in Oldman not being cast as Regis, but he’ll be filming the fifth season of his show Slow Horses from February, so there’s that as well.

The Witcher Season 4 is in production for a 2025 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book has a planned Winter 2024/2025 release with The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime set for a late 2024 release as well.
