List: Every New Cast Member of House of the Dragon Season 2 So Far

House of the Dragon has wrapped production for the hotly anticipated second season starring Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, and Olivia Cooke. During these long months of filming, the adept Game of Thrones fandom has managed to uncover many new cast members joining the show for Season 2. In some cases, we even managed to confirm their roles.

Below you will find a detailed list of the 50+ new cast members announced officially or uncovered by Redanian Intelligence and other sectors of the Thrones fandom.

The list will be updated from time to time, so check back to see if there’s anything new.


Cast Members with Known Roles


Amanda Collin as Jeyne Arryn

Perhaps one of the most familiar faces among the new cast of Season 2, Amanda Collin is known for the lead role of the android Mother in HBO’s science fiction series Raised by Wolves. Before that, she had key roles in many Danish productions such as the film A Horrible Woman and shows such as Department Q: A Conspiracy of Faith.

In the second season of House of the Dragon, Collin will portray the Lady of the Vale, Jeyne Arryn. As the head of one of the Seven Kingdoms, Arryn will become an influential ally to Queen Rhaenyra’s cause. The show may explore Arryn’s romantic relationship with Lady Jessamine Redfort, which was rumored in the books.


Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull

HBO was not content casting just one lead from Raised by Wolves, as Amanda Collin’s costar Abubakar Salim who portrayed the android Father has also joined Season 2. Salim is also known for the role of Pedro in Jamestown and for his extensive voice-acting career in games such as Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Diablo, and World of Warcraft.

In the Season 2 of House of the Dragon, Salim will portray Alyn of Hull. A bastard of House Velaryon, Alyn and his brother Addam will be enlisted in the Blacks’ campaign to uncover new dragon riders, and will later be legitimized as heirs to Driftmark.


Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull

Clinton Liberty is known for the role of DI Linus Dunne in the show Holding and Marcus in the show Red Election. Liberty has appeared in shows such as Normal People and Smother.

In the second season of House of the Dragon, Liberty will portray the bastard of House Velaryon, Addam of Hull. Brother to Alyn, the two will be enlisted in the Blacks’ campaign to uncover new dragon riders, and will later be legitimized as heirs to Driftmark.

They will be fighting beside Steve Tussaint’s Corlys Velaryon in the battles to come.


Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers

Gayle Rankin is known for the roles of Emily Dodson in Perry Mason, Sheila the She-Wolf in GLOW, and Margaret Weylin in Kindred. Rankin has appeared in many other shows and also in feature films such as The Greatest Showman and The Climb.

In the second season of House of the Dragon, Rankin will portray Alys Rivers. A mysterious and captivating character in her own right, Rivers will become entangled with Ewan Mitchell’s ambitious and violent Prince Aemond Targaryen, but not in Season 2 as by the end of the season the Blacks still hold Harrenhal.


Kieran Bew as Hugh Hammer

Kieran Bew is known for the role of the corrupt cop Bill O’Hara in the 1800s crime drama Warrior. Before that, he had key roles in shows such as Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands, Rellik, and Liar.

In the second season of House of the Dragon, Bew will portray Hugh Hammer, a bastard and son of a blacksmith who will be enlisted in the Black’s campaign to recruit new dragon riders. Hammer will set his eyes on none other than Vermithor, the dragon of the late King Jaehaerys Targaryen.


Freddie Fox as Gwayne Hightower

Freddie Fox is known for the roles of King Hugo in The Great and James ‘Spider’ Webb in Slow Horses. Before that, Fox had key roles in such shows as Cucumber, Watership Down, The Shadow Line, and The Crown.

In the House of the Dragon Season 2, Fox will portray Ser Gwayne Hightower, eldest son of Lord Otto Hightower, brother of Dowager Queen Alicent, and heir to House Hightower of Oldtown. Gwayne appeared briefly in the show’s pilot episode, although he was wearing a helmet and played by a stunt actor during the royal tourney. Now, Gwayne is given will be given the face of Freddie Fox.


Robert Rhodes as Silver Denys

Robert Rhodes is a young actor known for the role of Ben in Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?

In the House of the Dragon Season 2, Rhodes will portray Silver Denys, one of the Blacks’ potential dragon rider recruits. Denys will attempt to claim the wild dragon Sheepstealer.


Sam C. Wilson as Blood

Sam C. Wilson is known for the role of Bill Sikes in the series Dodger. Before that, he has made appearances in shows such as Hannah, Doctors, and The Capture.

In House of the Dragon Season 2, Wilson will portray a mercenary called Blood, who will be enlisted alongside his partner-in-crime Cheese for a special mission by Matt Smith’s Prince Daemon Targaryen.


Mark Stobbart as Cheese

Mark Stobbart is known for the role of PC Martin Clarke in the show 55 Degrees North. Since then, he has had recurring roles in such shows as The Silence, Utopia, Line of Duty, and The Hunt for Raoul Moat.

Stobbart will portray the mercenary called Cheese, who will be enlisted alongside his partner-in-crime Blood for a special mission by Matt Smith’s Prince Daemon Targaryen.


Simon Russell Beale as Simon Strong

Simon Russell Beale is an experienced theater actor known for the role of Henry Lenham in The Lenham Trilogy. Beale has also appeared in many films and shows, including a key role in Vanity Fair opposite Olivia Cooke who portrays Queen Alicent in House of the Dragon.

In Season 2, Beale will be introduced as Simon Strong, the current ruler of Harenhal and great-uncle to the manipulative Larys Strong. Harenhal will become a key location in Season 2.


Steven Pacey as Gunthor Darklyn

Steven Pacey is an experienced actor with roles in shows such as Distant Shores, MIT: Murder Investigation Team, and Blake’s 7.

In House of the Dragon Season 2, Pacey will portray Lord Gunthor Darklyn, the Lord of Duskendale. Darklyn is a member of the Black Council sworn to Queen Rahenyra, and as such, Darklyn will be marked as an enemy of the Greens, specifically Fabian Frankel’s Ser Criston Cole.


Daniel Fathers as Humfrey Lefford

Daniel Fathers is an experienced actor known for his role in the television show Snatch, where he portrayed Clarence Perry. He has also appeared in shows such as The Line, King, and Dark Matter as well as The Witcher: Blood Origin.

In House of the Dragon Season 2, Fathers will portray Lord Humfrey Lefford, a bannerman of House Lannister who will be riding to war alongside Jefferson Hall’s Jason Lannister in the name of the Green’s King Aegon II Targaryen.


John-Paul Hurley as Lord Darry

John-Paul Hurley is known for the role of DCI Newall in The Syndicate. Hurley has appeared in many other shows, including Silent Witness, Wild Bill, Shetland, and Shameless.

In the second season of House of the Dragon, Hurley will portray Lord Darry, Lord of Castle Darry in the Riverlands. Darry will be recruited by Queen Rhaenyra’s Blacks in the coming Dance of the Dragons.


Anna Francolini as Lady Mallister

Anna Francolini is known for the role of Clarissa in HBO’s Rome and has since appeared in many shows including Homeland and Roadkill, and most recently appeared as Gloria in Sex Education.

In the second season of House of the Dragon, Francolini will portray Lady Mallister of Seagard. In the book Fire and Blood, there was no mention of a Lady Mallister. It is possible Francolini’s character will absorb the book’s Lord Jorah Mallister’s role, or that her character will stand beside an as-yet-unidentified cast member who will portray Jorah Mallister.


Barney Fishwick as Martin Reyne

Barney Fishwick is a young actor who has recently appeared in shows such as Doctors, The Girlfriend Experience, and Black Death.

In the second season of House of the Dragon, Fishwick will portray Lord Martin Reyne, who does not exist in the source material. House Reyne are subjects of House Lannister of Casterly Rock, who will be joining the Greens in the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.


Tok Stephen as Eddard Waters

Tok Stephen is known for the role of Cedric Charlton in The Larkins. He has also appeared in such shows as Silent Witness and Holby City.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Stephen will portray the bastard Eddard Waters. No such character exists in the source material, but the surname Waters suggests he is a bastard of a high house in the crowlands.


Ralph Davis as Leon Estermont

Ralph Davis is a young actor with theatre experience who has appeared in shows such as Anatomy of a Scandal and Life After Life.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Davis will portray Leon Estermont. No such character exists in the source material, but Leon along with the two characters above, Martin Reyne and Eddard Waters were seen as a trio filming in Caceres, Spain.


Sarah Woodward as Lady Serena

Sarah Woodward is an experienced actress known for the role of Mistress Ford in the film The Wives of Windsor. She has since appeared in many films and in shows such as Queens of Mystery, The Bill, and Professor T.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Woodward will portray a character called Lady Serena. No such character exists in the book, and the only character named Serena is a Stark lady who should not have been born yet at this time in the show.


Graeme McKnight as Paxter Strong

Graeme McKnight is a young actor who has appeared in such shows as Outlander, The Walk-In, and Hijack.

McKnight will portray Paxter Strong in Season 2 of House of the Dragon. This character does not exist in the books, but he will most likely be involved in the events at Harrenhal and will probably stand beside Simon Russel Beale’s Simon Strong.


James Doherty as Cley

James Doherty is known for the role of Brian Simms in the show Is Harry on the Boat? and has since made appearances in Coronation Street, Doctors, Londynczycy, and many more television shows.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Doherty will portray a recurring character called Cley who does not appear in the source material, George RR Martin’s novel Fire and Blood. Most likely, Cley will be a supporting character such as a knight or lord in one of the many courts of the Seven Kingdoms.


Tom Cawte as Criston Cole’s Squire

Tom Cawte is a young actor known for the role of Appraisal in the show Witless, and has made appearances in other TV shows and shorts.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Cawte will portray Ser Criston Cole’s Squire. Fabien Frankel’s Cole will be marching to war in Season 2, so he will need a squire by his side and that will be Tom Cawte’s role.


Ted Reilly as Crofter

Ted Reily is known for the role of Johnny Carter in EastEnders and has appeared in other shows such as Call the Midwife and Suspects.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Reilly will portray Crofter. This is likely the character’s role rather than his name, and so Reilly’s character seems to be a farmer.


Graeme Dalling as Shipbreaker’s Bay Fisherman

Graeme Dalling is a young stage actor who has also appeared in shows such as Doctors and Hollyoaks.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Dalling will portray a Shipbreaker’s Bay fisherman. Most likely, he will run into a grieving Rhaenyra Targaryen who is searching for the remains of her son Lucerys in the aftermath of the Season 1 finale.


Tom Lorcan as Stark Captain

Tom Lorcan is known for the role of Mark Hargrave in Coronation Street. He has also appeared in shows such as Doctors, Gentleman Jack, and Suspicion.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Lorkan will portray a character called Stark Captain. Season 2 will venture into Winterfell, the ancestral home of House Stark, and will introduce Lord Cregan Stark, who will become a good friend of Harry Collet’s Prince and Heir Jaecerys Velaryon as Jace attempts to recruit the Starks to the war effort. Lorkan’s Stark Captain will be part of this storyline.


Nicola Wright as Ratcatcher Woman

Nicola Wright is an experienced actress who has appeared in many, many films and TV series. She is known for the role of Victoria Frobisher in the series Jupiter Moon.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Wright portrays a character named Ratcatcher Woman.


Jaouhar Ben Ayed as Servant

Jaouhar Ben Ayed is a young actor known for his recurring role in the show No Man’s Land, where he portrayed Iyad Bel Tagi.

In House of the Dragon‘s second season, Ben Ayed will portray a character called Servant. Most likely, he will be serving one of the lords or royals.

To maintain the privacy of actors who are minors as well as in respect to their parents, we will only list their first names below.

An actor named Archie has been cast as Oscar Tully, the young Lord of Riverrun.

An actor named Oscar has been cast as Joffrey Velaryon, son of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and her lover Harwin Strong.

An actor named Jude has been cast as Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen, son of King Aegon II Targaryen and his sister Helaena.

An actress named Olive has been cast as Princess Jaehaera Targaryen, daughter of King Aegon II Targaryen and his sister Helaena.


Cast Members with Rumored Roles


Tom Taylor, rumored to be Cregan Stark

Tom Taylor is best known for his lead role in the film adaptation of The Dark Tower, in which he portrayed Jake Chambers. He had also appeared in recurring roles in shows such as The Last Kingdom, The Bay and Doctor Foster: A Woman Scorned.

Tom Taylor is rumored to be cast as Lord Cregan Stark of Winterfell. This has been reported by House of the Dragon follower @housethedragons. We cannot confirm Taylor is Cregan Stark, but we can confirm he has been cast in Season 2, so it’s quite possible.


Tom Bennett, rumored to be Ulf the White

Tom Bennett is an experienced actor best known for his roles as Christopher in PhoneShop, Miles in A.P. Bio, and Mark Sturgis in Resistance.

Another rumor by @housethedragons states that Bennett has been cast in the role of Ulf the White, another of Team Black’s recruits sent to try and claim the riderless dragons. Like with Tom Taylor, we were able to verify Bennett’s casting in Season 2, but not his role.


Cast Members with Unknown Roles


Eddie Eyre

Eddie Eyre is known for his memorable appearance in the predecessor to House of the Dragon, and he has appeared in other shows such as EastEnders. In Game of Thrones, Eyrie portrayed Ser Gerold Hightower, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard of Mad King Aerys in a flashback vision viewed by Bran.

It would be quite fitting if Eyre’s return to Westeros would once again cast him in the role of a Hightower. That said, he has been seen filming with Fabien Frankel in Green armor, so he’s definitely Team Green.


Scroobius Pip

Scroobius Pip is an actor and singer known for the role of Anson Ash in the series Debris. Pip has also appeared in shows such as The Bastard Executioner, Taboo, and The Letter for the King as well as films such as Venom II: Let There Be Carnage.

His exact role in House of the Dragon is not yet known, but we saw and heard him in Spain where he led a funeral procession. Therefore he is a herald of sorts.


Antonio Magro

Antonio Magro is known for his portrayal of Paul Kelly in The Alienist. He has also appeared in shows such as Hannah, Cursed, and The Continental.

Aaron Hodgetts

Jamie Kenna
