Henry Cavill Spotted Filming The Witcher Season 3 in Trefil Quarry, Wales

The third month of the production for Season 3 of Netflix’s The Witcher is coming to an end with the team working hard in South Wales the last few days. As we reported, filming in Wales will span over about a week starting from June 23.

Filming started at Nash Point yesterday, but alas, no sightings of the cast are known from that day. Instead, we have a sighting of Henry Cavill himself filming today at Trefil Quarry thanks to our reader Ysinsir, who took the time and effort to go there and investigate.

Geralt of Rivia spotted in the quarry

Today in Trefil Quarry, Henry Cavill was seen getting out of a car in his Geralt costume and wig and escorted towards the tents. Cavill was seen greeting everyone and being very nice in general, which is what everyone else has been saying about him, so no surprises there.

No other cast members were spotted at that time, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they weren’t there. That said, it’s a possibility that Geralt is alone in these scenes.

Sadly, Cavill wasn’t caught on camera this time, but Ysinsir still provided some photos of the area before their phone battery tragically passed away and they could capture a shot of the man himself.

While we can’t see Geralt, we can at least lay our eyes on the gorgeous location that is the Trefil Quarry. Indeed, once again the location scouting team for The Witcher is doing an impeccable job.

In addition, we have a sighting of none other than Hector aka Roach thanks to locals:

It’s difficult to say what was being filmed. All we know is that the director is Gandja Monteiro, which means this is for either episode 3 or 4 of the upcoming season.

It has been suggested that this could be Geralt doing some monster hunting to earn money for hiring Codringher and Fenn, as it happened in Time of Contempt, but again, the information is scarce and the location isn’t very revealing, so it’s hard to even speculate.

Filming in Wales is set to take a little break during the weekend and resume again on Monday, June 27, presumably in Three Cliffs Bay. As usual, we’ll keep you posted.

Season 3 of The Witcher is in production until September 2022 for a 2023 release.
