Fantasy fans all over the world are eagerly awaiting the premiere of Amazon’s The Wheel of Time on November 19. Meanwhile, we have some casting news to share for everyone who is already looking a bit further ahead: Three actors have joined the second season of The Wheel of Time, that is currently being filmed.

UPDATE: We can also share that British actress Laura Crowhurst (Doctors, The Last Bus) will appear in the second season of The Wheel of Time.

While we don’t know the extent of her role at the time of writing, we can’t help but notice certain similarities with a beloved character from the books, who is expected to debut in Season 2. Is it just us or would she not make a great visual fit for Verin Mathwin, the at-times dreamy-eyed but also surprisingly perceptive Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah?

To be clear, this is just a guess and Crowhurst could easily end up playing another character. If you have any theories, we’d like to hear them!

Could Laura Crowhurst be our Verin Mathwin?

Game of Thrones and Shadowhunter star Will Tudor will play Barthanes Damodred, an important noble from the land of Cairhien and a relative of Rosamund Pike’s Moraine.

In the books, Barthanes is the High Seat of House Damodred and cousin to the late king Laman. Like many in his circle, he’s deeply involved in Daes Dae’mar (The Game Of Houses), which is sort of a (lethal) pastime for nobles, involving all kinds of social and political trickery to outplay their rivals. If the show stays true to the books, we’ll also see him pursue some other interests, but that would be giving too much away for now.

Moving on, we’ll also see Japanese actress Haruka Kuroda (Killing Eve) in Season 2 of The Wheel of Time, where she’ll play one of Min Farshaw’s aunts.

Min (who is played by Kae Alexander in the series) has three aunts in the books: Jan, Rana, and Miren. She was raised by all of them, in a rather strict manner. As for the show, we can’t yet say whether Kuroda plays one of the three or an amalgamation of them, which would make sense for simplicity’s sake.

Our final name on the list is young graduate actress Natasha J. Murley, who has already finished filming her part on the second season. At the time of writing, we have no information about her role, but we’ll keep you updated if we hear more.

This concludes our casting update for Season 2 of The Wheel of Time for now. We’re hopeful that more developments will follow suit after the first season releases and we’ll keep you updated via our Foreign Affairs Section on Twitter.
