Ella-Rae Smith’s role in The Witcher revealed

Ella-Rae‘s involvement in Netflix’s The Witcher was first revealed after Henry Cavill and the rest of the team presented the first teaser to the world at San Diego Comic Con. Her role has been a complete mystery ever since. We’ve reached out to Netflix and can now exclusively confirm who her character is.

Ella Rae-Smith plays a character named Fola. She is most likely an original addition to the show created by showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich and the team.

Interestingly, there is another original character with a similar name: Zola, played by Anna-Louise Plowman. Could Fola and Zola be related somehow? We believe that’s possible.

According to Plowman’s IMDb, Zola will appear in Episodes 7 and 8. It’s likely we will see Fola in them as well.

Season 1 of The Witcher arrives on December 20, 2019. Additionally, Season 2 has already been confirmed for a 2021 release.

  1. The costume designer will kill this show, mark my words. Here we have a warrior lady (leather straps!) wearing plum-dyed fur sash which is useless, looks awful and stinks like a dead cat when wet. One article below we have a mage wearing some sort of leather-ring collar. Sado-maso I don’t mind but it’s stapled together using blind rivets, for fox’s sake!

    1. None of these costumes are from the Witcher. As the caption says, the first image is from Into the Badlands, the second is just a the actress wearing regular clothing.

    1. Téa is played by Adele Oni, Véa by Colette-Dalal Tchantcho. Ella-Rae Smith’s Fola is an original character created by the show.
