House of the Dragon Season 3 Casts a New Jaehaera Targaryen

The third season of HBO’s House of the Dragon starring Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke is deep in post-production with a June 2026 release date officially confirmed. Today we have some casting news that may or may not mean something structure-wise for the upcoming season.

We’ve learned that young actress Pearl Clark has been cast as Princess Jaehaera Targaryen in House of the Dragon Season 3. Jaehaera is the daughter of Aegon and Helaena, who was seen in the brutal premiere of Season 2.

In Season 2, Jaehaera was only a toddler, played by a 3-year old actress. Season 3 will also have her as a toddler, played by an actress of around the same age. That means there will be two Jaehaeras in Season 3: one toddler Jaehaera and one Jaehaera that’s around 10 years old.

The natural question that comes up: is this for a time jump or some sort of vision of the future? Either seems possible since House of the Dragon likes its visions and the show had a time jump back in Season 1, recasting a large number of characters with their older counterparts.
