HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series starring Dominic McLaughlin, John Lithgow, Nick Frost and more has been filming its first season since last summer and Mark Mylod was known as the only official director that has been named so far. Since then we’ve learned of Lucy Forbes and now we have a third director.
Benjamin Caron joins Harry Potter series

We’ve learned that Benjamin Caron is directing an unspecified number of episodes for the first season of HBO’s Harry Potter.
Caron is an award-winning director whose works include Andor, The Crown, Sherlock, Wallander, Skins and more.
This is now the third director that we know after co-showrunner Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones, The Menu) and Lucy Forbes (The End of the F***ing World, This is Going to Hurt).
The first season of Harry Potter will consist of eight episodes and it’s unclear whether there is a fourth unannounced director. We do know, however, that Mylod is directing at the very least episodes 1 and 2 and Forbes is directing 3 and 4.
This comes just after HBO exec Casey Bloys narrowed down a release window for the season to early 2027. He said: “We’ve been saying 2027. I would say, to narrow it down to some extent, early 2027. And now you’re going to ask, does that mean January, February, March, April, that we’re not ready to say. I’ll say early 2027.”
Harry Potter series will film until May 2026 and is eyeing a 2027 release. Season 2 will begin filming back-to-back after Season 1 after a short break. Stay tuned to Redanian Intelligence for more news.
