The Witcher’s fourth season was released this October and the fifth has already wrapped and is deep in post-production. The final season of the Liam Hemsworth, Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra series was written last year and filmed earlier this year in the UK. Now that it’s in the bag, here’s the list of writers and directors of The Witcher‘s final season.
Writers and Directors of The Witcher Season 5

The fifth season is somewhat a first for The Witcher in the sense that it only had three directors, instead of the usual four or even five. They are:
- Jeremy Webb (Episodes 1, 2, 7, 8)
- Christopher Clark Cowan (Episodes 3 and 4)
- Alex Garcia Lopez (Episodes 5 and 6)
Jeremy Webb, who worked on such projects as The Last of Us, The Umbrella Academy, Shadow & Bone, Merlin and more, came into the world of The Witcher in Season 4 and directed the final two episodes.
Christopher Clark Cowan was the action and second unit director for The Witcher Season 4 and he worked on such projects as The Acolyte, Shang-Chi, Argylle and more. He’s making his debut as main unit director in The Witcher Season 5.
Alex Garcia Lopez is by now a Witcher veteran as he was there for the first season, directing episodes 3 and 4 there. He later returned to The Witcher in Season 4 and did episodes 5 and 6.

On the writers’ side the list looks like this:
- Episode 1: Javier Grillo-Marxuach (episodes 306, 406)
- Episode 2: Tera Vale Ragan
- Episode 3: Troy Dangerfield (308, 404, Blood Origin)
- Episode 4: Clare Higgins (203, 305, 407) and Rae Benjamin (304, 403, Sirens of the Deep)
- Episode 5: Matthew D’Ambrosio (206, 307, 405)
- Episode 6: Tania Lotia (302, 402, Blood Origin)
- Episode 7: Mike Ostrowski (107, 207, 301, 308, 408, Sirens of the Deep)
- Episode 8: Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (101, 108, 203, 208, 401)
As expected, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the one to conclude The Witcher series as she was the one to write the very first episode eight years ago. The only surprise is the second episode, a debut writing credit for longtime Witcher producer Tera Vale Ragan, who has been working on the show since the very beginning.
The Witcher Season 4 is has been out since October 30, 2025. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book Crossroads of Ravens is available internationally since September 30, 2025. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4 is now in full production.
