Netflix’s The Witcher has been a journey of 8 years, from its first announcement in May 2017 to now, where we finally start to feel the end. Filming for the first season started in Fall 2018, so it’s almost exactly 7 years since cameras started rolling with Henry Cavill still as Geralt of Rivia in Budapest, Hungary. Since then production moved to the UK and later on Liam Hemsworth replaced Cavill as the lead for the two final seasons.
The Witcher wraps filming forever

We can report that filming for the final season of Netflix’s The Witcher is now finished. The last scenes were shot at The Witcher‘s home base, Longcross Studios. Everyone involved is understandably quite emotional. We should expect plenty of wrap posts from cast and crew on social media in the coming days.
For now, here’s an Instagram story from Freya Allan, who played Ciri for the past seven years.

What started seven years ago, has now ended. We’re not excluding the possibility of reshoots in the next few months, Season 4 had them, but it is largely over, the end of an era.
The fourth season is releasing exactly a month from now, on October 30, 2025. The fifth season is expected sometime in 2026. Perhaps October again? We’ll see when we get there!
Updates on Season 4 and Season 5 won’t end here, of course. We still have plenty of cast and plot details to uncover and report. Redanian Intelligence’s coverage of Netflix’s The Witcher will end only after Season 5 finally airs and there’s nothing new to report and nothing to talk about. Until then, we’ll be here.
As a bonus, here’s some photos from the Season 5 wrap party last weekend:

The Witcher Season 4 is has been out since October 30, 2025. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book Crossroads of Ravens is available internationally since September 30, 2025. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4 is now in full production.
