By Season 4 of Netflix’s The Witcher is only just a month away, releasing on October 30, 2025. The new season will see Liam Hemsworth make his debut as Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill. As usual, we’re here to provide updates on the final two seasons. Today we’ll talk about how the show will handle the biggest reveal in Season 4.
Duny = Emhyr, How Geralt Find Out
From the get go, the Duny = Emhyr reveal was hard to adapt in any adaptation. In the books, the reader as well as Geralt of Rivia are given this information at the very end of the saga when Geralt and Emperor Emhyr finally have a face to face chat after all these years. The books are able to conceal Emhyr’s identity as there are no pictures involved, only text.
In the show, there are two parts to this reveal: when the viewers find out and when Geralt finds out. The viewers found out at the end of Season 2, when they chose to make that reveal, but Geralt still doesn’t know. We now know that he won’t wait until the end of Season 5 to find that out.
In the fifth episode of The Witcher Season 4, centered around the fish soup, characters of Geralt’s Hansa will each have their own flashbacks and backstories told. We already reported that Jaskier will have a mini-musical, for example. That brings us to Cahir and his personal relationship with Emperor Emhyr.
It is revealed that as a child, Cahir used to run away from home, from his bad father and care for this weird creature that looks like a hedgehog, who is ostracized and lives in a cave. Cahir brings him food, water, etc. That creature is, of course, Duny aka Emhyr. As Cahir tells this to the Hansa, that is also where Geralt puts two and two together, Duny = Emhyr.
That somewhat changes the conversation that Geralt and Emhyr will have at the very end, making it without this reveal. We’ll see how it turns out next year when Season 5 finally airs.
