The promo machine for the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher is set to begin very very soon and we’re already starting our extensive coverage ahead of Netflix. The new season will see Liam Hemsworth make his debut as Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill. There were concerns that with how the story unravels, Liam won’t get to interact with Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan before the latter half of Season 5, but now we know that this won’t be the case.

Yennefer pays Geralt a visit in The Witcher Season 4

We’ve learned that somewhere in The Witcher Season 4, Yennefer teleports to Geralt and his Hansa. She meets everyone, gets to know those who she never met before, and later she and Geralt spend a hot steamy night together. After that, Yennefer goes back to her affairs with the other sorceresses.
This mirrors the end of Season 3, when Yennefer paid a visit to Geralt in Brokilon, signaling that their relationship in the Netflix series is perfectly fine after Thanedd.
It is, of course, different from Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, when after Thanedd, Geralt didn’t know Yennefer’s status. She could be dead for all he knew. Later, he hears that Yennefer was alive and is working with other sorceresses. Geralt believed Yennefer betrayed him and Ciri and only at the end of the saga they reunite and rekindle their love.
This new info also could mean quite a bit for Season 5. In the books, believing Yennefer betrayed him, Geralt gets involved in a short relationship with Fringilla Vigo while in Toussaint.
We’ve already confirmed the inclusion of Toussaint in Season 5 as well as Fringilla’s presence there. Given that Geralt and Yennefer are together, most likely nothing will happen between Geralt and Fringilla in Season 5.

That only leaves one question: what is the point of Geralt’s journey in Season 4 and 5, aside from because it happens in the books? With Yennefer still present in his life, she can teleport him and the Hansa straight to Nilfgaard. After all, despite disliking portals, Geralt had Triss teleport him to Istredd in Cintra in Season 2, so we saw that when it comes to protecting Ciri, Geralt is fully willing to swallow his distaste of portals. Hopefully, the series has created an explanation for why Yennefer helping Geralt isn’t an option.
The Witcher Season 4 is has been out since October 30, 2025. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book Crossroads of Ravens is available internationally since September 30, 2025. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4 is now in full production.
