By One of the most intriguing arcs in the Witcher universe is that of the Wild Hunt led by Eredin. In adaptations, they were heavily featured in CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3 and has a few appearances in Netflix’s The Witcher as well.
The Wild Hunt to appear again in The Witcher Season 5
We’ve learned that Wild Hunt are indeed coming back in the final season of The Witcher to resolve the storyline that was set up in Season 2. Led by King Eredin, we’ll see them much more in the final season.
What resolution exactly will Netflix come up with for the Wild Hunt is hard to say. In the books, Eredin was a commander in King Auberon’s royal cavalry in the world of the Aen Elle elves, which is a parallel world. Ciri gets there via her unique powers and stays there for some time before escaping. Eredin wants her for her power to enslave other worlds and pursues her relentlessly.
Netflix changed a lot of this with the existence of the Blood Origin spinoff, where Eredin is a captain of a royal guard, not in a parallel world, but the same one, just 1200 years prior. Due to the events that unfold during Blood Origin, including Conjunction of the Spheres, Eredin is banished to a desolate world and now pursues Ciri, presumably to get back hom to his lover Brian.
With the Aen Elle world and King Auberon nonexistent in Netflix’s version, that is a large chunk of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Lady of the Lake unadaptable and needing of some kind of replacement, meaning a lot of original content. What this replacement will be is anyone’s guess, but we’ll keep digging to hopefully find out.
