The upcoming third season of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, is now in full production. The show’s key cast members will return, including Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra, Matt Smith’s Daemon, Olivia Cooke’s Alicent, and the rest of the ensemble cast of the previous seasons. Besides these returning cast members, Season 3 will also introduce many new characters for secondary and tertiary roles. In this article, we will list every new cast member uncovered so far.
Officially Announced
The following actors were confirmed to join the cast of Season 3 by official sources, through the trades (Variety, EW, etc).
James Norton as Lord Ormund Hightower

James Norton is an accomplished actor with years of experience. He is best known for his leading television roles in Happy Valley, Grantchester, War & Peace, and McMafia. He has also appeared in films like A Little Life, Joy, and Little Women and voiced the character Cole in the video game Dragon Age: Inquisition.
In House of the Dragon Season 3, Norton was cast as Ormund Hightower. The character’s official description per Variety is as follows: Otto’s (Rhys Ifans) nephew, Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and Gwayne’s (Freddie Fox) cousin, and the Lord of Oldtown. He is presently leading the Hightower host in a march on King’s Landing to support his house against Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy).
It is expected that Ormund will be introduced alongside Prince Dareon, who has spent the previous seasons off-screen with Ormund in Oldtown.
Tommy Flanagan as Lord Roderick Dustin

Tommy Flanagan is an accomplished actor with years of experience in the television and film industries. On television, he is best known for his lead role in Sons of Anarchy, and has appeared in many other shows, including Westworld, Power Book IV: Force, and MobLand. On the large screen, he has had major roles in films such as Galdiator, Braveheart, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
In House of the Dragon Season 3, Flanagan was cast as Lord Roderick Dustin, also known as Roddy the Ruin. Roddy is a bannerman of House Stark and the leader of the Winter Wolves, a force of two thousand grizzled graybeards sent by Lord Cregan Stark to aid Queen Rhaenyra’s war efforts.
Dan Fogler as Ser Torrhen Manderly

Dan Fogler is an accomplished actor with experience in films and television series. Best known for his lead role in the Fantastic Beasts films of the Harry Potter franchise, Fogler has also appeared in Fanboys, Balls of Fury, and many other films. On television, Fogler has appeared in The Walking Dead, The Offer, and Hannibal, among others.
In House of the Dragon Season 3, Fogler was cast as Ser Torrhen Manderly. The son of Lord Desmond Manderly, sent to support the cause of Queen Rhaenyra.
Tom Cullen as Ser Luthor Largent

Tom Cullen is an accomplished actor with experience in both film and television. On the small screen, he has appeared in shows such as Knightfall, The Gold, and Becoming Elizabeth. He has appeared in films such as Weekend, The Other Half, and Castle in the Ground.
In House of the Dragon Season 3, Cullen was cast as Ser Luthor Largent, the Lord Commander of the City Watch in King’s Landing and an acquaintance of Prince Daemon Targaryen.
Joplin Sibtain as Ser Jon Roxton

Joplin Sibtain is an accomplished actor with experience in both film and television. On the small screen, Sibtain has appeared in shows such as Andor, Safe, and Nightflyers. He has also appeared in films such as The Ascent and voiced characters in video games such as A Plague Tale: Requiem.
In House of the Dragon Season 3, Sibtain was cast as Ser Jon Roxton, also known as Bold Jon Roxton. Jon is a knight fighting for Lord Ormund Hightower, who wields a Valyrian Steel sword named Orphan-Maker.
Barry Sloane as Ser Adrian Redfort

Barry Sloane is an experienced actor with roles in television and video games. On television, Sloane has appeared in The Sandman, Passenger, Bluff City Law, and many more. As the voice of Captain John Price, he has appeared in the video game franchise Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
In House of the Dragon Season 3, Sloane was cast as Ser Adrian Redfort, a member of Queen Rhaenyra’s Queensguard.

The following cast members are known to have joined the Season 3 cast, but not yet announced officially.
Peter Polycarpou as Lord Gaunt

Peter Polycarpou is an experienced actor. He has appeared on television shows such as The Serial Killer’s Wife and Tyrant and films such as The Brutalist. He also has a long career as a voice actor, having recorded lines for many video games such as Diablo IV and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.
In House of the Dragon Season 3, Polycarpou was cast as Lord Gaunt, who seems to be an original character in a supporting role.
Dawn Butler as Weaver

Dawn Butler is a young actress with experience in television shows such as Doctors and The Bay, and the films Idol of Evil and Nasty Neighbors.

Joe Gaminara as Ser Leon

Joe Gaminara is an actor with experience in television shows such as Holby City and voice-acting experience in games such as Battlefield 1.

His role in House of the Dragon S3 is unknown. He, along with Dean Fagan and Daisy Kakkar were spotted attending this season’s readthrough.
