While Netflix are busy filming The Witcher’s fifth and final season, the fourth is still awaiting release sometime later this year. It’ll be the debut of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, who is replacing Henry Cavill after three seasons. We’re still finding out things about the new season and this time it’s a rather expected return, that some may have forgotten.
Queen Meve returns in The Witcher Season 4

We’ve learned that Rebecca Hanssen is indeed returning as Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia in The Witcher Season 4. Hanssen made her debut in the finale of the second season several years ago. Fans have always had a soft spot for book Meve and she became somewhat of a fan-favorite after CDPR’s Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.
We’ll see Queen Meve mostly at the end, in the final two episodes of Season 4. There, the much-anticipated Battle of the Bridge will take place, where Geralt and his Hansa help Northern troops fight off Nilfgaardians. After that, Geralt is taken to the queen of Rivia and she knights him as Geralt of Rivia.
This scene was adapted in 2018’s Gwent video game, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, where it was told from the point of view of Queen Meve.
We’ve already seen some glimpses of them filming the beginning of that sequence last year in Wales.

We reported this last year and it’s relevant to bring up again, besides the queen, Gareth David-Lloyd (Torchwood, Dragon Age) has joined The Witcher Season 4 cast and will portray someone from her entourage. We think he’s playing Reynard Odo.
He’ll frist appear in Season 4, of course, but also in Season 5. Geralt and friends have an important mission to find Ciri and they can’t say as part of Queen Meve’s army, so they desert. As a consequence, David-Lloyd is sent by the queen to capture them. We see that unfold in the beginning of Season 5 where a fight breaks out between Queen Meve’s men and Geralt’s Hansa.
We have that quite well documented in over 50 photos here.

The Witcher Season 4 is has been out since October 30, 2025. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book Crossroads of Ravens is available internationally since September 30, 2025. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4 is now in full production.
