List: The Witcher Season 4 New Cast Members and Their Roles

Since April 2024, Netflix has been filming the fourth season of The Witcher. Series star Henry Cavill passed the torch to Liam Hemsworth, and Netflix has finally shared the star’s first look as Geralt of Rivia following several leaked photos of a costumed Hemsworth and his stunt double from the set. Hemsworth is joined by returning costars Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), and Joey Batey (Jaskier).

Of course, the story is not complete with our stars alone, and indeed the show’s many heroes and villains, knights and mages, witchers and dwarves and sorceresses are set to return. With a sprawling cast of returning characters already confirmed, and with the fifth and final season already written, fans may be surprised to learn that Season 4 will introduce many new characters, including some fan favorites.

This article will list every new cast member confirmed for Season 4 and their roles. As of this writing, the list is incomplete, with some key roles still undiscovered. We will be updating the list frequently as we approach the release of Season 4 in 2025, so you can always revisit this page.

Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia

image

Our first new cast member needs no introduction, in part due to his long Hollywood career, but also due to the significance of his casting. That said, the list would be incomplete without Liam Hemsworth.

Hemsworth started his acting career on Australian television and became a household name after he was cast in the Hunger Games franchise, where he portrayed Gale Hawthorne opposite Jennifer Lawrence. Since then, Hemsworth has appeared in many movies and a handful of television series, until he landed the role of Geralt of Rivia towards the end of 2022.

Assuming the show will follow the books, Season 4 will be an interesting one for Geralt. The grumpy witcher has set himself an almost impossible task: rescuing his adopted daughter Ciri from the Capital in Nilfgaard. But the journey is an awfully long one, and the witcher will run into many surprises and challenges on his way to Ciri. Fortunately, he will not be alone in his quest. Geralt will be assembling a team of violent and often hilarious misfits. We already met three of them, and two have joined him in the Season 4 finale: Meng’er Zhang’s archer Milva, and Joey Batey’s bard Jaskier. But before long, a few other characters will join Geralt’s group, later named the Hansa. The first new addition is perhaps the most exciting casting of The Witcher Season 4.

Laurence Fishburne as Regis

image

With an accomplished Hollywood career in both film and television, Laurence Fishburne also needs no introduction. Even before his breakout role as Morpheus in The Matrix, Fishburne had appeared in many films and television series, including The Civil War and The Color Purple.

After The Matrix, Fishburne’s film career soared to new heights with films such as Mystic River, Mission Impossible, and Jon Wick, as well as appearances in DC’s Man of Steel and Marvel’s Fantastic Four. But Fishburne was not done with television either, and had key roles in beloved shows such as Hannibal and MacGruber. Needless to say, Fishburne brings a wealth of experience to The Witcher‘s set.

Fishburne has been cast as the barber-surgeon, and vampire, Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy, better known as Regis. This peculiar academic will be joining Geralt’s group of misfits, where he will engage the group with philosophy, and occasionally bear his fangs in battle.

Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart

image

Sharlto Copley is another accomplished Hollywood actor cast in The Witcher‘s fourth season, hailing from South Africa. The world was introduced to Copley after he landed a lead role in the acclaimed sci-fi film District 9. This breakout role paved a path for Copley in Hollywood, including memorable roles in films such as The A-Team, Elysium, and Maleficent.

Besides his extensive Hollywood career, Copley has also dabbled in television, with roles in shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm and Russian Doll. Throughout his career, Copley has portrayed heroes and villains with his own charismatic brand, and now he has joined The Witcher.

In Season 4, as well as the special episode titled The Rats: A Witcher Tale, Copley will portray Leo Bonhart. Bonhart is a particularly vicious bounty hunter who will be pursuing Freya Allan’s Ciri and the Rats. Before the season is over, Bonhart is likely to rival Mahesh Jadu’s Vilgefortz for the title of the show’s vilest villain.

James Purefoy as Stefan Skellen

image

James Purefoy is another accomplished actor and household name cast in Season 4. Purefoy started his career as a television actor, with roles in shows such as Coasting and The Prince and the Pauper, and Metropolis. Early in his career, Purefoy also appeared in films such as Resident Evil. Perhaps his most iconic role was Mark Antony in HBO’s Rome, which was followed by many more film and television appearances in productions such as Altered Carbon, Sex Education, and Pennyworth.

In The Witcher, Purefoy will portray Stefan Skellen, an agent of the Nilfgaardian Secret Service tasked with finding Ciri (Freya Allan) by Emperor Emhyr (Bart Edwards).

Danny Woodburn as Zoltan Chivay

image

Danny Woodburn is an American actor and comedian with an extensive acting career and a focus on comedic roles. Woodburn’s best-known role is that of Mickey Abbott in Seinfeld. He has also appeared in shows such as Conan the Adventurer, Baywatch, and Passions, among many other productions. Most recently, Woodburn appeared in Showtime’s series Billions.

In The Witcher‘s fourth season, Woodburn will portray the iconic dwarven warrior Zoltan Chivay. Zoltan is the leader of a band of dwarves, a gnome, and a talking parrot with a potty mouth. Zoltan’s band will cross paths with Geralt and his group as they travel the war-torn Northern Kingdoms in search of Ciri.

Linden Porco as Percival Schuttenbach

image

Linden Porco is a Canadian actor known for his roles in Channel Zero, Leprechaun Returns, and Nightmare Alley. Porco’s most recent project is SyFy’s Resident Alien.

In The Witcher‘s fourth season, Porco will portray a member of Zoltan’s band named Percival Schuttenbach. Yes, the band behind The Witcher III: The Wild Hunt and The Witcher Season 3’s Original Soundtrack is named after him. Percival is the only member of Zoltan’s gang who is a gnome, the others are all dwarves (or parrots), and he has some comedic back-and-forth with Zoltan as well as Geralt and his gang in the novels.

Eve Ridley as Nimue

image

Eve Ridley is an up-and-coming young actress best known for her standout role in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem. In the science fiction Netflix series, Ridley portrayed a child destined to die in a repeating simulation.

In The Witcher Season 4, Ridley was cast as the young Nimue. In the far future, Nimue will become a powerful and respected sorceress known as the Lady of the Lake, but first, she will be inspired by the legend of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, as she was in the books. Nimue and the storyteller Stribog will likely be used to introduce Liam Hemsworth’s new Geralt.

Clive Russell as Stribog

image

Clive Russell is a veteran British actor with decades of acting experience in both film and television. On the small screen, Russel has appeared in shows such as Game of Thrones, Cursed, Catherine the Great, Doc Martin, and Ripper Street. Russel has also appeared in films including The Wolfman, Sherlock Holmes, and The Last Duel.

In Season 4 of The Witcher, Russel will portray a wandering storyteller called Stribog, who will tell a group of children including Eve Ridley’s Nimue the legend of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri. This scene with Stribog and Nimue will likely be used as an introduction to Liam Hemsworth’s new Geralt.

Edmund Kingsley as Jocephus de Muroc

image

Edmund Kingsley is a British actor and producer with experience in film and television. He has recently appeared in shows such as 3 Body Problem, Slow Horses, and Devils.

Kingsley’s role in The Witcher is called Jocephus de Muroc. There is no character in the books with that name and we can’t guess in which storyline he’ll appear.

Audrey Katan as Beata

image

Audrey Katan is an up-and-coming young actress. She has appeared in the television series Grantchester and A Small Light.

Kattan will be portraying Beata in Season 4 of The Witcher. This seems to be an original character, as we have found no such character in the novels.

Jack Myers as ‘River’

image

Jack Myers is a British television actor and voice actor. Myers has appeared in shows such as The Crown and Dangerous Liaisons, and most recently in Amazon’s Masters of the Air. He has also had an extensive career as a voice actor in animated shows and video games, including The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Elden Ring, and many more.

Myers will be portraying River in Season 4 of The Witcher. This seems to be an original character or a codename for someone known.

Miles Jovian in an unknown role

image

Miles Jovian is one of the new cast members confirmed to be cast in Season 4 after their appearance in Netflix’s promotional video from the cast’s table read of the scripts. Jovian is a young actor who has had television roles in shows such as VarsityEast Enders, and Silent Witness. Most recently, he appeared in the feature film Poor Things alongside Emma Stone. Besides his television and film work, Jovian has a lot of stage experience.

Jovian’s role in The Witcher‘s fourth season is not yet known. Redanian Intelligence’s best guess is that he might portray Nilfgaardian General Menno Coehoorn, although it is only speculation for now.

Reece Alexander-Putinas as Commander Vascoigne

image

Reece Alexander Putinas is a British actor with experience in the film and television industry. Putinas is known for his role in Harry Potter spinoff film Fantastic Beasts, and his roles in shows such as Harlots and I Am a Killer.

In The Witcher Season 4, Putinas will portray the character Commander Vascoigne, who appeared in the novels that serve as the source material for the series. In the books, Vascoigne was the commander of the Redanian Intelligence dungeon of Drakenborg, where supporters of Nilfgaard are taken to be tortured or executed. Assuming Vascoigne will serve a similar role in the show, we can expect Putinas to act opposite of Graham McTavish’s Dijkstra and Cassie Clare’s Philippa.

Putinas will appear in an episode directed by Alex Garcia Lopez, so either episodes 5 or 6, or both.

Joelle Rae as an Elf

image

Joelle Rae is a young actress who’s best known for her role in the show Get Even. She has also appeared in shows such as Emmerdale Farm, Startstruck, and The Larkins. She has also appeared in films like The Gallery.

In The Witcher Season 4, Rae has been cast as an Elf. We don’t know what her character’s name is nor what role she will serve, sadly.

Though some fans may rush to conclude Rae might be Lodge sorceress Ida Emean, it is more likely that Rae will be a very different supporting character with a brief appearance in the show. What we can pint out is that Rae does have archery skills that will likely come handy in The Witcher.

Grahame Fox in an unknown role

image

Grahame Fox is an experienced Welsh actor with three decades of experience in the film, television, and video game industries. Fox has appeared in films such as Mission Impossible: Fallout, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania, and Eternals and shows such as The Bill, Casualty, and Game of Thrones where he portrayed Ralf Kenning.

Though Fox’s role in The Witcher Season 4 is as of yet unconfirmed, we do have a clue. Fox was present for filming near Lake Padarn in Snowdonia, Wales. The scenes filmed there were adapting the build-up to the Battle of the Bridge, where Geralt and his followers find themselves trapped between the Lyrian and Nilfgaardian armies.

Considering the location where he filmed, atop the hills facing the lake, it’s possible Fox is one of the archers that fire at Geralt’s ferry from the banks of the Yaruga River. Alternatively, Fox could be a commander or general of either the Nilfgaardian or Lyrian army.

Luisa Guerreiro in an unknown role

image

Luisa Guerreiro is a physical comedy actress, a puppeteer, a motion-capture artist, a creature performer, and a musical theatre performer.

On television, she has experience in shows such as A Discovery of Witches and Purgatory. She has also lent her talents to many video games, including Baldur’s Gate III, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Disco Elysium.

Though we don’t know Guerreiro’s role at this stage, it’s possible this role will utilize her unique talents. To be more specific, she may possibly portray one of the sentient creatures Geralt could meet in Season 4, but we’ll wait and see if we can confirm her role.

Phillip Edwards in an unknown role

image

Phillip Edwards is an actor and stand-in who has already worked on the show before, in Season 2, where he was a stand-in for a dwarven or gnomish character.

Edwards is expected to portray a similar role in Season 4 of The Witcher, perhaps a member of Zoltan’s band of dwarves or a stand-in for one of them.

Esme Lonsdale in an unknown role

esme

Esme Lonsdale is a young actress, who is already prominent in stage productions in the UK. Her TV and Film credits include Arthur’s Whisky and Art in the Blood.

In The Witcher Season 4 her role is currently unknown. Our best guess is that she’s portraying another elf alongside Joelle Rae.

Gareth David-Lloyd in an unknown role

gareth

Gareth David-Lloyd is a Welsh actor, who appeared in such series as Torchwood, Casualty and more. To fantasy fans he’ll be best known as the voice of Solas in Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

His role in The Witcher Season 4 isn’t yet confirmed, but we have reasons to believe he’s playing one of Queen Meve’s men. Perhaps even Reynard Odo.

Gary Oliver as Marshall Vissegard

image

Gary Oliver is an accomplished actor with experience in the film and television industries. Oliver has appeared in shows such as Game of Thrones, The Royal Mob, The Bible, and many more. He has appeared in films such as Bitter Harvest and Son of God.

In The Witcher Season 4, Oliver will portray Marshall Vissegard. In the novels of the Witcher Saga, a character called Vissegerd was a Cintran Marshall who served Queen Calanthe (Jodhi May) and her granddaughter Ciri (Freya Allan). After the Fall of Cintra, Vissegerd led an armed resistance of Cintrans against Nilfgaard.

Oliver will appear in an episode directed by Tricia Brock, who was in charge of episodes 3 and 4.

Rowan Polonski as Nazarian

image

Rowan Polonski is a young actor who has experience in the film and television industries. He has appeared in films such as Kingsman: The Secret Service and Tomb Raider (2018), and television shows such as Doctor Who and Good Omens.

In The Witcher Season 4, Polonski will portray Nazarian. In the books, Nazarian was an accomplice of the rogue mage Rience. More specifically, Nazarian was involved in Rience’s killing of Codringher and Fenn. Nazarian is later captured by the Redanian Intelligence and interrogated in Drakenborg. Another character associated with Drakenborg has already been cast, Commander Vascoigne (Reece Alexander-Putinas), and it’s likely the two will share a scene with Dijkstra (Graham McTavish) and Philippa (Cassie Clare).

Polonski will appear in an episode directed by Alex Garcia Lopez, who was in charge of episodes 5 and 6.

Joanne Zorian as Nikita

image

Joanne Zorian is an accomplished actor with decades of experience in the film and television industries. She is known for her television roles in Emmerdale Farm, Brookside, and The Politician’s Wife as well as her roles in films such as Shirley Valentine, A Christmas Gift from Bob, and Cor, Blimey!

In The Witcher Season 4, Zorian will portray an original character called Nikita.
