The Witcher Season 4 Adds New Cast Members

The Witcher‘s fourth season starring Liam Hemsworth (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), and Freya Allan (Ciri) has been filming for over a month now. Though the production is trying to keep its secrets close, some information inevitably escapes through their net – and reaches Redanian Intelligence. Today we have another casting update, with two confirmed cast members and one suspected. If you’re following our Twitter page, you may have already seen one or two of these.

Confirmed Cast

Miles Jovian is one of the new cast members confirmed to be cast in Season 4 after their appearance in Netflix’s promotional video from the cast’s table read of the scripts. Jovian is a young actor who has had television roles in shows such as Varsity, East Enders, and Silent Witness. Most recently, he appeared in the feature film Poor Things alongside Emma Stone. Besides his television and film work, Jovian has a lot of stage experience.

Jovian’s role is as yet unknown, but it’s hiding in plain sight on his character’s card on the table read, concealed by poor resolution and unfortunate lighting. If we squint, we think it starts with a “C”, so our current guess is that Jovian may have been cast as the Nilfgaardian general Menno Coehoorn.

The second confirmed cast member is young actress Audrey Kattan who has appeared in the television series Grantchester and A Small Light. Kattan will be portraying Beata in Season 4 of The Witcher. This appears to be an original character as no such character appears in the novels to the best of our knowledge.

It’s possible she will be a supporting character to one of our main characters, or perhaps she will be involved in a scene in which Stribog (Clive Russell) tells a group of children including Nimue (Eve Ridley) the legend of Geralt of Rivia.

Suspected Cast

While we are still trying to confirm this, we have reasons to believe that British actress Mei Mac has joined The Witcher cast as a sorceress, starting with Season 4. Mac is an experienced stage actress best known for her role as Mei Kusakabe in a stage adaptation of My Neighbor Totoro. On television, Mac can be seen in Comedy Central’s East Mode and Call the Midwife and films such as My Country. Lastly, Mac has some experience as a voice actor in the video games Rise of Ronin and Sifu.

Season 4 is expected to expand the fantasy novel’s storyline featuring the Lodge of Sorceresses, with Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer becoming a founding member and leader of the Lodge. Yennefer will be joined by the following returning cast members: Cassie Clare’s Philippa, Anna Shaffer’s Triss, Mimî M. Khayisa’s Fringilla, Mecia Simson’s Francesca, Therica Wilson-Read’s Sabrina, Safiyya Ingar’s Keira, and Rochelle Rose’s Margarita.

Though the Lodge is already stacked with characters, some key sorceresses from the novels are still missing: the Nilfgaardian sorceress Assire var Anahid, Creyden’s Sheala de Tancarville, and elven Ida Emean. Of these three, we believe Mac could portray Assire, but she also could be playing someone else entirely. We’ll update as soon as wa have more info on that.

The Witcher Season 4 is in production for a 2025 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book has a planned Winter 2024/2025 release with The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep anime set for a late 2024 release as well.
