List: Every New Cast Member of The Witcher Season 3 So Far

The Witcher‘s third season is set to release during Summer 2023. Season three will once again bring monsters and mayhem to the doorstep of our three main characters: Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), and Cirilla of Cintra (Freya Allan).

In addition to the show’s three leads and returning characters such as Triss (Anna Shaffer), Jaskier (Joey Batey), and Tissaia (MyAnna Buring), season three will introduce many new characters.

This page will list all of the new cast members that have been either announced officially or uncovered through other means. The page will be updated as new cast members and their roles are confirmed. So far, we have uncovered over fifty new cast members, including nine with rumored roles.

Mages of Thanedd Island

w3 trailer webm snapshot 01 35 584

In Season 3, Thanedd Island and its famous school of sorceresses, Aretuza, will host some of the season’s most memorable moments. Though we have already been introduced to many of the key players that will participate in these scenes, Season 3 will be introducing many new mages as well.

Rochelle Rose as Margarita Laux-Antille

In the books, Margarita Laux-Antille, better known as Rita, replaced Tissaia as Rectoress of Aretuza. She is always cheerful and confident, and she’s willing to do absolutely anything for her students. Rita was a very close friend of Tissaia’s, despite their different temperaments.

Rita is one of the founding members of the Lodge of Sorceresses. Rochelle Rose has previously appeared in Death in Paradise and Boxing Day. Aside from these productions, she has had an extensive stage career that includes Cinderella, Aladdin, The Winter’s Tale, Jack & The Beanstalk, and many more.

Safiyya Ingar as Keira Metz

Keira Metz is a supporting character who appears in the novels and was later featured in CD Projekt RED’s video games, where she gained additional popularity.

Keira is a sorceress who is prepared to get down and dirty and fight for the cause she believes in. She would later join the Lodge of Sorceresses.

Safiyya Ingar‘s filmography includes roles in Summer of Rockets, Doctors, and Faith as well as some voice acting work for video games, such as Diablo IV.

Sam Woolf as Rience

image 17

A memorable villain from The Witcher Season 2 is Rience, played by Chris Fulton, the mage who gets his face burnt by Yennefer. Due to other roles, Fulton will no longer play Rience in The Witcher. Instead, the character will be portrayed by Sam Woolf.

Woolf’s credits include episodic roles in Strike, Theodosia, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as well as young Prince Edward of Wessex in the upcoming fifth and sixth seasons of Netflix’s The Crown.

Philip Philmar as Gerhart of Aelle

Gerhart of Aelle, also known as Hen Gedymdeith, was the oldest living mage on the Continent, having lived through four centuries. His experience earned him a role in the exclusive Chapter of Wizards, and he was one of the leading members of the Thanedd Coup in the novels.

How big his role will be in the show remains to be seen. Philip Philmar is an experienced actor, having appeared in small but memorable roles in films including Sweeney Todd, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Les Miserables as well as television shows such as Game of Thrones and The Crown.

Ryan Hayes as Artaud Terranova

Artaud Terranova is one of the mages that took an active role during the Thanedd coup, having conspired with Vilgefortz. Terranova also happens to be a member of the exclusive Chapter of Wizards in the books, so he is a respected figure among the mages of Thanedd Island. Ryan Hayes has previously appeared in Carnival Row and Emerald City and can soon be seen in the upcoming Netflix series Bodies.

Michalina Olszanska as Marti Sodergren

Marti Sodergren first appeared in the novels at a banquet in Thanedd, where she exchanged a hilarious interaction with fellow sorceress Sabrina. Though she began her Witcher career as not much more than comic relief, she would eventually end up as one of the most valuable healers in the Northern Realms, treating wounded soldiers on the frontlines of the battle with Nilfgaard.

Michalina Olszanska is a Polish-born actress, hailing from The Witcher‘s motherland. She has previously appeared in the films Carga, and I, Olga, as well as the Polish Netflix series 1983.

Poppy Almond as Bianca d’Este

Bianca d’Este is a minor character who appears in the novels, belonging to the neutral mages that opposed the infighting during the Thanedd Coup.

The fact that Netflix has cast Poppy Almond (Blurred Lines) in this role suggests the show will explore the tragic fate of those who attempted, and failed, to prevent the escalation and ensuing battle.

Harvey Quinn as Radcliffe of Oxenfurt

Radcliffe was one of the mages supporting Philippa Eilhart during the Thanedd Coup, helping Philippa capture the traitor mages before the battle broke loose.

Harvey Quinn has been on set for most of the Thanedd filming, so it’s likely he will have a similar role in the show. Quinn has previously appeared in shows such as Drifters and Recaptured.

Royalty and their Entourage

image 6

The first two seasons of the show have already introduced multiple lords and monarchs. Season 3 will be branching out as it introduces the family of Prince Vizimir of Redania among other lords and noblemen.

Hugh Skinner as Prince Radovid

Yes, this is Radovid himself, but no, in the Netflix version he’s not Vizimir’s son, but his younger brother and more interestingly, he’ll be having an affair with none other than Jaskier.

Royal playboy and younger brother to King Vizimir, Radovid finds himself suddenly a man on the inside of the Redanian Intelligence. With his good looks and drunken charm, Radovid amazes with how incisive he can be in political affairs, but it’s all games until someone gets hurt.

Hugh Skinner‘s credits include Poldark, Fleabag, The Windsors, and more.

Tracy-Ann Oberman as Queen Hedwig of Redania

image 7

Tracy-Ann Oberman (Doctor WhoAfter Life) has joined the cast in the role of Queen Hedwig, King Vizimir’s wife.

In the show, Hedwig is described as ““a middle-aged married woman trapped in a loveless marriage to a man who is more like her child than her husband. Though she inhabits courtly life, her opinions more often than not fall on deaf ears.

Hiftu Quasem as Falka

image 2

Hiftu Quasem will be familiar to some Witcher fans, as she has already had a role in The Witcher: Blood Origin, where she landed her voice to the supernatural being that brought Chaos magic to the Continent (the glowing orb that Balor speaks with). Quasem has previously appeared in many other television series, such as Killing Eve and Ten Percent.

In The Witcher‘s third season, Quasem will physically portray another character closely related to Chaos magic (and chaos in general): Falka. One of Ciri’s ancestors according to Netflix’s version, Falka he also happens to be one of the most feared historical characters on The Continent due to the bloody war named after her, Falka’s Rebellion.

In season three, she is expected to appear exactly as she did in the book Time of Contempt, compelling Ciri to use magic during a hallucination in the desert.

Johannes Haukur Johannesson as Crach an Craite

image 10

In the first season of The WitcherCrach an Craite was portrayed by Scottish actor Blair Kincaid. He appeared in the episode that deals with Duny, Pavetta, and the Law of Surprise at Calanthe’s banquet.

Crach will return in Season 3, but he will no longer be played by Kincaid. Instead, the character will now be portrayed by Icelandic actor Johannes Haukur Johannesson, who is known by his roles in such series as SuccessionVikings: ValhallaThe Last Kingdom and Game of Thrones.

Jim Sturgeon as Aplegatt

image 11

Jim Sturgeon was cast as everyone’s favorite royal messenger Aplegatt, a royal messenger in the service of King Demavend. His official description is as follows:

A royal messenger, played by someone who will need to know his way around a horse. This middle-aged gentleman was tired of his life and the horrors he’d witnessed on the job until he heard something that revolutionized his outlook from that moment on.

Sturgeon has appeared in productions such as Young WallanderShetlandSmall Axe and Vigil.

Frances Pooley as Teryn aka Fake Ciri

image 15

Frances Pooley will portray the character Teryn. Although that is not a name familiar to readers of the books, we are fairly certain Teryn is in fact a character stripped straight from the novels, with some added backstory. This character is one fans refer to as Fake Ciri, a young girl who looked remarkably similar to Ciri and was used as a pawn by the Emperor of Nilfgaard.

Elves, Dryads and their Supporters

image 5

Season 2 has already introduced us to a whole faction of elves, but much more is on its way now that the elves have taken a fighting stance against the Northern Realms. Of course, this means we will meet some new elven characters in Season 3. The dryads are also set to return.

Meng’er Zhang as Milva

AAAAQe7G6ZvDX6nt9aH HvhcOMcLd3NUC 58Ntk VRx0g DspDZNFQVJPRxY2ndlAtykEYUUPz9D uM5V5MQv yqMr wG209ErlgEasHl1kb0iNR17udU9qHHewOluqml2BdLii WhtkuzXj7234VgATSh

We will begin this roundup with perhaps the most exciting role cast in Season 3, one of the founding members of Geralt’s hanza and a human warrior who lives among the dryads, Milva. The actress Meng’er Zhang is well known for her role in Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings, where she plays Xu Xialing, Shang-Chi’s sister. The official Netflix description of Milva:

“A human adopted by the dryads of Brokilon Forest, Milva is a fierce and talented huntress. Exact archery skills coupled with a stone-cold aptitude for survival make her a formidable adversary in the unforgiving Continent – those that cross her, do so at their peril.”

Robbie Amell as Gallatin

gallatin head

Gallatin is a new, original character, but maybe he’s not entirely new as his description and position seem similar to the novel’s Isengrim. Moreover, he’ll have a big ugly scar on his face. Gallatin is described as follows:

A born fighter, Gallatin leads an army of guerrilla Scoia’tael fighting on behalf of Nilfgaard. Unafraid to speak his truth, Gallatin’s loyalty to his people ultimately leads him on a collision course with Francesca over power.”

Robbie Amell recently played Chris Redfield in the Resident Evil live-action reboot attempt titled Welcome to Raccoon City.

Lorna Brown as Queen Eithne

image 37

We have reason to believe that actress Lorna Brown (The Batman, Les Miserables) has been cast in the show as a dryad.

Moreover, we believe she may been cast in the role of the dryad queen Eithne, replacing season one’s Josette Simon. However, this is not confirmed, so treat it as a rumor.

The Rats and the Trappers

image 8
The Rats by Denis Gordeev

The centerpiece of the novels’ most controversial storyline is a group of teen rebels who call themselves “The Rats”, who will be a big part of Ciri’s story arc in the following seasons. The Rats will also run into a rival band of outlaws called the Trappers.

As we have revealed some time ago, the group will get their own live-action spinoff with a working title Rats, which is to be produced in South Africa under the helm of showrunner Haily Hall.

Christelle Elwin as Mistle

image 1

Christelle Elwin‘s credits include Netflix’s Half Bad and Bloods. Here’s the Netflix description Mistle:

Mistle is a member of The Rats, a gang of misfit teenagers who steal from the rich and give to themselves – and sometimes the poor. She is street hard, suspicious of everyone and out for revenge, until a chance meeting that will change everything.

Fabian McCallum as Kayleigh

image

Best known for his role in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Fabian McCallum has appeared in television series such as Barons and You, Me, and the Apocalypse. In The Witcher‘s third season, McCallum will portray the most despicable member of the Rats (at least in the books), called Kayleigh. Like all of the Rats, Kayleigh is a victim of the horrors of war, with his home town burning down along with his adoptive parents in a Nilfgaardian siege.

Aggy K. Adams as Iskra

What of the remaining Rats? Well, actress Aggy K. Adams will be playing the Rat named Iskra.

Iskra was an elf who was exiled from elven territories. Her chances of survival were slim until she joined the Rats.

Juliette Alexandra as Reef

Juliette Alexandra (EastEnders) will portray a member of the Rats called Reef. In the novels, Reef was a Nilfgaardian who served the Usurper before Emperor Emhyr rose to the throne. During one siege, Reef was wounded and abandoned on enemy territory by his fellow soldiers. Reef was then found and saved by another member of the Rats.

Ben Radcliffe as Giselher

Next up is Ben Radcliffe, who we believe was involved in the filming of these scenes. Radcliffe fits the type and as such is most likely Giselher, the leader of the Rats.

Connor Crawford as Asse

Connor Crawford (Glitch) seems to have been on set during the filming of the Rats scenes, so he might be one of the final two Rats as well.

We believe Crawford is playing Asse.

Nicholas Karimi as Skomlik

Nicholas Karimi (You Don’t Know Me) will portray the Trapper Skomlik, who will clash with Ciri and the Rats.

Ash Rizi as a Trapper

Another actor we suspect was cast is Ash Rizi, who may well be the show’s Giselher. Giselher was effectively the leader of the Rats, who was a drunken soldier who deserted his army during the war.

If not Gisleher, Rizi may end up portraying the last known Rat, Asse. Like all other Rats, Asse is also a victim to the horrors of war, having watched his family murdered by soldiers. He meets Mistle on the path of vengeance, and soon the other Rats as well.

Andrew Lee Pots as a Trapper

At first, we thought Andrew Lee Potts (The Crown) could be the Rat leader Giselher, but seeing as he is years older than the rest and is sporting a grey-ish beard nowadays, it’s far more likely that he was cast as a Trapper.

The actor was on location with the crew during filming one of the last two episodes of season three and is likely either Sweers or Remiz.

Ciri’s Gors Velen Adventure

image 21
Ciri in Gors Velen by Denis Gordeev

One memorable sequence in the novel Time of Contempt has Ciri run off on an adventure that leads to some fun and heartfelt moments. These next few cast members confirm the show will be adapting that storyline.

Stuart Thompson as Fabio Sachs

image 19

Fabio Sachs will be played by Stuart Thompson. Fabio is a young boy, working at the Gors Velen bank, who was tasked by his boss Molnar Giancardi to take Ciri on a tour of the town, while he and Yennefer would discuss business.

At the end of their little adventure, there was the wyvern incident, which we are very much looking forward to see in live-action because we might finally get to see Ciri’s sword-fighting skills in real action, no longer with inanimate dummies of Kaer Morhen.

Giuseppe Lentini as Molnar Giancardi

image 20

Belgian-Italian actor Giuseppe Lentini is set to portray the banker dwarf Molnar Giancardi in The Witcher Season 3.

In the books, Giancardi was an acquaintance of Yennefer’s after she saved him and his family during the Vengerberg pogrom. At the request of Yennefer, Molnar pays Ciri’s tuition for the Aretuza school and raises Geralt’s pay for a contract he was engaged in at the time. All that happens after Giancardi tasks his young employee Fabio Sachs to show Yennefer’s young ward around the town, while the grown-ups talk business.

Lentini’s work includes such projects as Mobsters, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Artemis Fowl, House of the Dragon, and more.

Martyn Ellis as the Charlatan, Barker

image 22

Martyn Ellis will portray a character named Barker. It turns out that Barker is actually the charlatan in Gors Velen, who tries to pass a wyvern as a basilisk to the clueless audience of his show. Little does he know, there’s a young witcheress among them, who knows this is not a basilisk.

Other New Cast Members

image 25

In addition to the major new characters and key supporting characters, shows like The Witcher will cast many minor roles required to move the story forward and enhance the show’s worldbuilding. The next few cast members will likely serve that function.

Beau Holland as Vespula

artists 1653992034 27f83770bfe4040a65573b8432946a2e CROP 600x700 1

Beau Holland has been cast as Vespula in The Witcher Season 3. Vespula appears in the short story Eternal Fire, but here we’ll see her with Jaskier in the present time.

Vespula was described in her casting call as “a gorgeous free spirit who is hot-blooded but kind-hearted.”

Nathan Laryea as Valdo Marx

image 1

Nathan Laryea has appeared in episodes of Doctors and Doctor Who as well as some stage work. He will be appearing in an episode directed by Gandja Monteiro as a Valdo Marx, Jaskier’s arch-rival in the bard scene.

Josh Weller as Boris

image 9

Comedian and singer Josh Weller is playing Boris, a member Valdo Marx’s band.

Dionne Oxford as a bard

image 10

Falka isn’t the only new character in season three who will be portrayed by an actor who has already appeared in The Witcher: Blood Origin. Dionne Oxford has already appeared, albeit briefly, as Queen Nera of Pryshia. Oxford has roles in many other films and television series, including Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom and Andor. Most of her roles involve dancing or singing, so it’s not shocking that she was cast in the role of a bard for season three.

She could be playing a character codenamed ‘Richmond’, whose description is ““a musician who sells instruments for a living and is done with customers thinking they can walk all over her.”

Oxford will be appearing in episodes directed by Gandja Monteiro and Loni Peristerre, probably episodes four and five.

Catherine McCormack as Anika

vYyMCGKeIUTZMdEgVwQCgX7q1T3

Catherine McCormack, known to many as her role of Murron is Braveheart, will play Anika in The Witcher Season 3.

Anika is a healer, who knew Geralt’s late mother Visenna.

Dempsey Bovell as Otto Dussart

Dempsey Bovell will appear as the werewolf Otto Dussart in The Witcher Season 3.

Dussart is an old friend of Geralt’s in the series and the two helped each other in Season of Storms.

Sunny Patel as The Professor

Sunny Patel will appear as The Professor aka Ralf Blunden in the first minutes of The Witcher Season 3.

Cal Watson as Eva

image 31

Cal Watson (Britannia, The Peripheral) will portray the original character called Eva.

Eva is the handmaid in King Vizimir’s household and has a connection to Philippa Eilhart.

Sean Cernow as Veldhoek

image 26

Sean Cernow (House of the Dragon, Emmerdale Farm) was cast early in the production. He plays a character called Veldhoek.

Oengus MacNamara as ‘Oakwood’

oengus

Oengus MacNamara, who has appeared in episodes of such series as Game of Thrones, The Last Kingdom and Patrick Melrose, will play the character codenamed ‘Oakwood‘ in The Witcher Season 3.

Madeleine Day as Elizabet

image 5

Madeleine Day has many stage credits in her portfolio, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Richard III. Day is also a skilled dancer and musician, so it’s quite possible her role, the original character Elizabet, will make use of these skills. She will appear in an episode directed by Stephen Surjik, so perhaps she will be a dancer during the Bellteyn festivities in Episode 301.

Megan Goldby as Maud

image 9

Megan Goldby (Eastenders) is another stage actress who has significant skills and experience as a dancer. She will also appear in an episode directed by Stephen Surjik.

Lucas Aurelio as ‘Antony’

image 29

Though the character ‘Antony‘ doesn’t ring any bells, it’s possible Lucas Aurelio‘s role has been given a codename. Aurelio has had roles in shows such as The Power.

Faye Derham as ‘Aoife’

image 8

Stage actress Faye Derham (Lysistrata) is skilled at horseriding and is set to appear as the original character Aoife in an episode directed by Stephen Surjik. This could also be a codename.

Kate Winter as ‘Putney’

image 30

Kate Winter (That’s What She Said) will portray the character named or codenamed Putney,

Harrison Daniels as Newbury

image 34

Harrison Daniels (Bloods) has been cast as an original character codenamed ‘Newbury‘.

Simon Phillips as Bandit

image 13

Simon Phillips (Age of the Living Dead) has been cast in the guest role Bandit and will appear in a Stephen Surjik episode.

Marc Bannerman as Captain of the Guard

image 11

Marc Bannerman (Pennyworth, The Nevers) will portray a Captain of the Guard in an episode directed by Bola Ogun, so either 307 or 308 (the final two). Perhaps he is one of Emperor Emhyr’s henchmen.

Jonathan Ball as a reveller

image 12

Stage and musical actor Jonathan Ball (The Crown) is cast in the role of a reveller in a Stephen Surjik episode (301 or 302).

Nickcolia King-N’Da as Knight

image 14

Nickcolia King-N’Da (Silent Witness) has been cast in the role of Knight and will appear in an episode directed by Gandja Monteiro (so episodes 303 or 304).

Abe Jarman in an Unknown Role

image 32

Abe Jarman (The Ex-Wife) has been cast in an unknown role.

George Wigzell as Prood

George Wigzell (Bridgerton) has been cast as Prood.
