Henry Cavill Reveals Two Weeks of Fight Scenes At The Witcher Season 3 Set

The second month of filming for The Witcher Season 3 is almost complete with Henry Cavill, Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra working tirelessly on the sets built for the new season at Longcross Studios.

One of these sets was an old elven ruin that we reported about just recently. As we mentioned, this could very well be the ruins of Shaerrawedd, which were featured in Blood of Elves and were expected in Season 2 by fans of the books, but never shown, sadly.

Geralt of Rivia and his intense weeks of fight scenes

We were told that a good amount of time was spent filming at those ruins and that filming involved extras and/or stuntmen dressed in armor.

Now, Henry Cavill revealed via his Instagram that he spent the last two weeks having “nine shades of hell” beaten out of him with fight scenes. A lot of time spent at the ruin set, Henry Cavill filming a fight scene for two weeks. It all adds up!

In another Instagram post, Cavill is seen with some of his Geralt makeup still on, not all cleaned up yet.

The Witcher family facing off multiple enemies?

We have also reasons to believe that Freya Allan could have been involved in some of the fighting as well. Additionally, about two weeks ago we revealed that they were filming a scene with Anya Chalotra‘s Yennefer doing some magic in front of a blue screen.

As you can see, the aforementioned ruins do feature a blue screen, so perhaps that scene was related to what Henry has been doing and all our three main leads are facing off some enemies at ancient elven ruins?

That said, there can be many blue screens in a film studio, but it was around the same time Henry Cavill started his fight scenes, so one can’t help but speculate and try to connect the dots.

Just imagine, Geralt and Ciri with their sword skills, Yennefer with her magic, facing off their enemies in a neatly choreographed intense action scene.

Which episode was this filmed for?

As far as we can tell, this was filmed for a Stephen Surjik episode, meaning either 301 or 302. We’re leaning towards 302, though, as Surjik has finished his work on The Witcher Season 3 after almost two months of filming. It’s possible he returns for some pickups at a later date, but the bulk of his work is now done.

On a lighter note and to follow-up Henry Cavill‘s pizza story, Cavill wasn’t the only gentleman in town as Stephen Surjik got the crew some very much needed ice-cream in this heat. Here’s Surjik with last season’s Vereena, played by Agnes Born:
