The Witcher continues production despite the Coronavirus outbreak

As of yesterday, Netflix has halted production on all films and TV series in US and Canada due to Coronavirus concerns. The Witcher, on the other hand, continues filming in the UK with stars Henry Cavill, Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra. Redanian Intelligence has the details.

Our sources report that as of today, March 14, no major production shifts have been made other than rescheduling a scene because one of the cast members wouldn’t be available next week.

Other than that, filming this week continued in Arborfield Studios at Kaer Morhen with Henry Cavill (Geralt), Freya Allan (Ciri), Kim Bodnia (Vesemir), Thue Rasmussen (Eskel), Paul Bullion (Lambert) and Yasen Atour (Coën).

We have also learned that during one of the scenes Henry Cavill wore his black eye contacts indicating that at one point Geralt drinks one of his potions. Perhaps to demonstrate the effects to Ciri?

Production of The Witcher Season 2 is currently scheduled to continue next week. However, there are no guarantees that there won’t be any changes due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The decision to halt production could literally come any day. Redanian Intelligence will keep you posted.

  1. I’m delighted to read the production is sticking to the schedule, which will prove useful with the 2021 release. Wishing the production and all involved the very best of success. I’m looking forward to season 2. I thoroughly enjoyed season 1 despite not having read the books or playing the games. Anyway, take care all.
